RESUMO
ABSTRACT
The use of medicinal plants as a supportive treatment for diabetic nephropathy has
shown to be increasingly effective and beneficial to patients who are affected by this
clinical condition. Recent studies have shown that the result obtained with such
nutritional management have brought a significant improvement for such a case. The
plants that obtained the best performance and acceptability in the scientific
environment were Eugenia Jambolana, Bauhinia Forficata and Curcuma longa.
Through bibliographic research, more knowledge about these plants was obtained,
observing how they act in the organism in face of the aforementioned pathology. It
was also possible to know the pathophysiology of Diabetic Nephopathy, the direct
relationship that hyperglycemia has in renal functioning, as well as the development
and worsening of the disease in the body. It is noted that because it is a chronic
pathology, the adjunctive treatment with medicinal plants proves to be effective and
safe for people in free demand, as it serves as a support in the medical treatment of
the disease.
