Americans consider the dinner an important event or a “holy time with the
family”. According to a recent study seven in ten American families have dinner
together three or more times a week. But there is one interesting thing – some of
these families have dinner with the television on. Everybody describes this
moment together as calm and enjoyable. What about Brazilian families? It’s the
opposite. Few Brazilian families have dinner together (two in ten), and most
members prefer to watch TV while they eat. Also, the dinnertime is very fast –
from 10 to twenty minutes – and they don’t talk usually.
