RESUMO
SUMMARY
The aim of the present work was implement a pharmaceutical care service using
the Dáder pharmacotherapeutic follow-up methodology. A cohort study in which 25
volunteers were followed for 1 year, these volunteers were employees of an educational
institution in the city of São Paulo, with Type 1 diabetes mellitus, Type 2, LADA type or
Gestational Diabetes. There was a higher frequency of male volunteers, with a
predominance of the age group between 34 and 76 years, and 13 volunteers (52%) were
classified as obese grade I. Hypertension was the most frequent diabetes-associated
comorbidity. Regarding self-medication, it was found that 68% of the volunteers
consumed drugs without medical or pharmaceutical guidance, the most frequent being
the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Regarding prescription drugs, the most
used for glycemic control was metformin followed by insulin. Analyzing the results, it
was found that 72% of participants had drug-related problems (PRMs). In 32% of the
volunteers, the presence of drug interactions was verified, the most frequent being the use
of levothyroxine and food. Of the pre-diabetics evaluated in the research, 12% of them
reversed this clinical picture during the implementation of the study. The project
demonstrates that pharmaceutical care is a useful and necessary tool for health promotion
helping in the monitoring and prevention of diabetes mellitus.
