IRELAND’S IMPACT ON

XERACIÓN NÓS
INTRODUCTION
-Xeración Nós researched Irish history and writers, and
translated their works to include them in their journals.
-Intention: demonstrate the Galicians’ distinctiveness from Spain and establish a
link with a nation that was struggling for its national rights.
-Nos diary’s objectives: defend Galician language and culture. This had an impact
on Galician nationalism and brought them closer to Ireland and their uprising.
-By translating texts from Irish authors to Galician, Nós made them take on a
different perspective so they could apply those messages to Galician history and
somehow imitate the Irish revolution and encourage Galician nationalism.
