ABSTRACT:
Tourism experienced a huge increase during the 20th century as a result of the
Industrial Revolution and, towards the end of the century, received a significant boost
from technologies associated with communication and information. The tourism
agencies that participate in the tourism system work as distributors of tourism
products. They address the commercialization of tourism products as a means of
serving other sectors of tourism, such as transport, food, accommodation, etc. The
differential in question is to always meet the expectations of customers, through high
quality services and focus on service excellence. Organizations that provide services,
in order to be competitive in the real world of competition and customer demand, are
looking for methods to accommodate these changes. Faced with the need for a
differential in the tourism agency market, meeting the competition and the wishes of
customers, this article explores three methods of implementing a Quality
Management System: the 5S program, benchmarking and the PDCA cycle. Thus, the
question of this study is: what benefits can the implementation of a quality
management system model bring to tourism agencies? For this, the objectives of this
project are to demonstrate the value of management tools and methods for the
success of organizations, to analyze companies providing tourist services as service
providers and to present the practicality of specific management methods in this
industry. For this, this study is the result of a bibliographic review, with a qualitative
approach and a descriptive approach, regarding the purpose.
