Abstract
In this work we analyze the composition and similarity of the urban arboreal flora of 49 Brazilian
cities. We identified the most abundant species considering all the cities and analyzed the
parameters of communities such as richness and diversity for each city. We also did a similarity
analysis and used indicator species analysis. Cities are characterized, in general, by low richness
and diversity and high dominance of a small group of exotic and native species. Regional differences
were found between the South/Southeast and North/Northeast regions characterized by differences
in the exotic and native species groups more abundant in each region.
