Princpio de funcionamento
Os dispositivos protetores de surto foram desenvolvidos para
limitar sobretenses transientes e tambm desviar as altas
correntes provenientes de descargas atmosfricas.
Aplicaes
Os dispositivos protetores de surto so necessrios em
qualquer instalao que tenha riscos de sofrer danos por
sobretenso (raios diretos, indiretos e surtos por chaveamento). So utilizados em instalaes industriais, comerciais e
residenciais.

Os cartuchos de reposio para protetores de surto plugveis possuem um
sistema contra erros de ligao (os cartuchos de neutro so diferentes dos
cartuchos de fase), prevenindo ligaes incorretas durante a reposio do
cartucho.

Dentro de um raio de vrios quilmetros, o campo eletromagntico causado por um raio nas nuvens, pode tambm gerar
subitamente um aumento de tenso na instalao. Mesmo
que menos perigoso que o caso anterior essas sobretenses
podem causar danos a equipamentos mais sensveis, como
modem, fonte de alimentao de computadores e sistemas
de comunicao e segurana.

Dispositivo desenvolvido para limitar sobretenses transientes
e desviar as correntes de descargas atmosfricas.
Possui, pelo menos, um componente no linear. Deve estar
de acordo com a norma europia EN 61643-11.

Onda que representa a corrente que passa atravs do equipamento quando sujeitado a uma sobretenso (baixa energia).
Onda 10/350:
Onda que representa a corrente que passa atravs do equipamento quando sujeitado a uma sobretenso pela descarga
direta de um raio.
Protetor de surto Tipo 1:
Protetor de surto desenvolvido para desviar a energia destrutiva causada por uma sobretenso comparada a uma descarga de impacto direto de um raio. Deve passar com sucesso
pelo teste com a onda 10/350 (teste de classe I).
Protetor de surto Tipo 2:
Protetor de surto desenvolvido para desviar a energia destrutiva causada por uma sobretenso comparada a uma descarga de impacto indireto de um raio ou a uma sobretenso de
operao de chaveamento. Deve passar com sucesso pelo
teste com a onda 8/20 (teste de classe II).
U p:
Nvel de proteo.
Parmetro que caracteriza a operao de um protetor de
surto pelo nvel de limitao de tenso entre os seus terminais, nveis que so selecionados de uma lista predefinida
na norma. O maior valor atingido no teste de limitao de
tenso arredondado ao prximo valor maior da norma (teste
realizado em corrente nominal de descarga (I n) para o teste de
classe I e II).

Corrente nominal de descarga.
Valor de pico de corrente na onda 8/20 o qual pode fluir 15
vezes pelo protetor de surto. usado para determinar o valor
