INSPIRAÇÃO PARA TODO O TRABALHO DE FANTASIA Fox, Gardner. Kothar and the Conjurer’s Curse e o resto da
que eu fiz decorre diretamente do amor que meu
pai me deu quando eu era um rapaz, pois ele
passou muitas horas me contando histórias que
ele fez enquanto estamos juntos, contos de
velhos homens de mantos que podiam conceder
desejos, de anéis mágicos e espadas encantadas ou de
feiticeiros perversos e espadachins intrépidos...
... Todos nós tendemos a buscar grande ajuda na
fantasia quando somos muito jovens, de contos de fadas
como os escritos pelos Irmãos Grimm e Andrew Lang.
Esses, muitas vezes, levam a leitura de livros de mitologia,
folheando através de bestiários e consultando compilações
dos mitos de diversas terras e povos. Após tal
embasamento, eu construí meu interesse em fantasia,
sendo um ávido leitor de todas as ficções cientificas e
literaturas fantásticas desde 1950. Os autores a seguir
foram minhas inspirações particulares.
