Narrator
Despite the changes taking place in society, Lisbon retains many of its
traditions. Tonight, people are preparing for the Marchas de Lisboa - an annual
parade. It is an event that draws visitors from all over the world.

The Marchas de Lisboa is a summer event where various districts of the city, or
barrios, come together to parade down the Avenida da Liberdade. They are
competing for the title of best marcha or marching group.
Narrator
The former Expo site, o Parco das Nações, is one of the best examples of
urban renewal in Lisbon and people have embraced it with enthusiasm. It is a
popular place to work and also now to live. Where do you live? Onde mora?

Onde mora? Where do you live?
Moro em Lisboa. I live in Lisbon.

Portugal has embraced information technology with great enthusiasm. It was
the first country in Europe to pioneer an electronic road toll that takes the
money straight from your bank account, the Via Verde.

For many, the approach to work is now changing. People are taking time into
