RESUMO
ABSTRACT
The present research, the master's degree dissertation in Musical Education results,
Mestrado em Música na Contemporaneidade da EMAC/UFG, sought to prove the Group
Strings Teaching (violin, viola, cello and bass) methodology efficiency in the instrumental
initiation. The musical teaching democratization through the methodology, that promotes
the individual's transformation and consequently, the society transformation, was analyzed
and discussed, being reached the final conclusions. The education importance in society as
social transformation instrument is approached by FREIRE (1975, 1996, 1997), LUCKESI
(1994), LIBÂNEO (1996), GOHN (1999), GIROUX (1999), MCLAREN (1999),
VILANOVA (2000), MACEDO (2000), SAVIANI (2001). The existent relationships
between music and society, as well as the Musical Education role in the contemporary
social context have been discussed by FREIRE (1992) and SOUZA (2000). They were
some of the specific references used in the discussions. It is necessary to emphasize the
research in Musical Education importance, seeking a larger understanding of the pedagogic
processes in practice, their relationships with the society, aiding the innovative
methodologies creation, which helps the social transformation. The present existential
research-action (BARBIER, 1997), with qualitative approach, delimited a study object –
the group strings teaching instruments, as an efficient teaching methodology for the
instrumental initiation, being one of the musical teaching democratization way. A large
search about the literature in the specific area and similar areas was developed, as well as,
interviews with 11 educators that work with the group teaching was provide to support the
discussions. Twenty-nine (29) individuals had participated in the experiment, with age
group from 12 to 46 years old. A school semester, August to December of 2002, was
delimited for the accomplishment of the experiment field research. It was chosen in
delimiting as experiment of study two groups of different profiles. The first one worked
with preadolescents and adolescents in street (misery) situation. The second one worked
with people (in general / all sort of people) of the community with several profiles. After
the description and analysis of the data, it was reached the following results and
conclusion: 1) it was proven that: the learning in group privileges a better perception and
elementary technician-musical development for the instrument initiation; the applied
musical theory is associated to the instrumental practice facilitating the students'
understanding; the musical result happens in less time than in the individual classes
motivating the students to give continuity to the instrument study; 2) it was verified that:
the musical development in 100% of the subjects; the group strings teaching develops in
the students a larger concentration, it disciplines; develops self confidence, autonomy and
the independence; the group teaching of strings promotes an interaction process among the
students, socializing them and developing the sense-critical caused by the
teacher/researcher incentives and democratic conduction; the methodology and teaching
strategies should adapt to the socioeconomic and cultural conditions of each group; the
group individuals interpersonal relationships contributes in a significant way in the
development learning process of each subject; 3) It was suggested that: the musical
educator should be attentive to the contemporary musical manifestations for a better
dialogue with the students; the musical educator should understand the context
socioeconomic, political and cultural in that it is inserted, so that its performance can be
critical and effective to promote social transformation.
