utilizado para descrever e identificar pessoas e objetos e nas expressões de
tempo, de lugar e idade. No passado, ele se traduz como era, estava.
Em verbos no passado frequentemente vem acompanhado de locuções

Can pode ser substituídos por be able to (ser capaz de) quando expressam
sentido de capacidade, habilidade ou possibilidade de fazer algo. Diferentemente
dos demais modal verbs, a expressão be able to se conjuga em todos os
tempos:

I can't talk to you today, but I will be able to talk tomorrow.


(Não posso falar com você hoje, mas amanhã poderei.)
I'd like to be able to stay here. (Gostaria de poder ficar aqui.)
They have never been able to control that naughty child.

Regra Geral:
Am/Are/Is + going to+verbo
Going to é usado para expressar um futuro próximo, algo
que, com certeza, está prestes a acontecer ou que temos
a intenção de fazer. Na Língua Inglesa, assim como no
Português, pouco usamos o futuro do presente
(consertará, levará, irá, trará, etc), que corresponde ao
Simple Future. Na maioria das vezes damos preferência à
construção vou consertar, vou levar, etc. Essa construção
se faz com o Going to em Inglês.
