 What is a ‘Character Kit?’
Calling options presented here a ‘Character Kit’ is intended to
convey extra information about its nature, drawing on an
association with certain naming convention from past
editions of D&D. The content featured here doesn’t fit within
the confines of the choices available to the class it is built for,
but the lore that provides a foundation for these character
options has a solid connection to an existing class. Optional
class features like these replace and/or modify the existing
 features of a class in a way that utilizes class modification
options from the Dungeon Master’s Guide and re-orients
certain story possibilities for the class it serves: in this case,
the Cleric.
However, this method is somewhat speculative compared to
building something like a new domain. The options here have
the potential to be quite potent. The invoker has more
flexibility with channel divinity, allowing them to utilize it
more frequently. Additionally, though their spell access is
 more limited, they have abilities to enhance the power of
their spells. Reducing the ability to depend upon weapons and
armor to save themselves helps offset these changes and
helps delineate a unique role for invokers that sets them apart
from standard clerics.
This character kit, and others like it, are available only at the
 discretion of your DM.





Divine Bolt New Spell


Conjuration cantrip
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V,S
Duration: Instantaneous
With a quick flash of light, you hurl a bolt of holy energy at an
enemy. Make a ranged spell attack against a creature that you
can see. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 radiant damage. 
This spell’s damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th
level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8).
Channel Divinity. When you cast this spell you can choose to
expend a use of your Channel Divinity ability to imbue the
spell with additional sacred might. If you do so, the spell
creates a second divine bolt. You can target the same
creature, or choose a different target.









 











Variant Proficiencies
The cleric class provides options that give players a number
of approaches to combat – from the lightly armored, spell-
slinging priest of a sun god, to a heavily armored warrior
devoted to the god of war. The Invoker character kit has a
much more narrow focus, and effectively utilizing the new
class features presented here means limiting yourself to light
armor and eschewing melee combat. You can easily utilize
many of the existing domains without modification, and many
DMs that allow the Invoker options into their games are
encouraged to use this approach. However, some DMs and
their players may want to draw upon roleplaying elements that
would lead an Invoker into a domain, like the War domain,
that isn’t compatible with the Invoker’s features. For those
interested in doing so, the following modifications can be
used to ease the use of all domains with the options
presented here for Invokers.
Weapon Proficiencies. If a domain would grant new weapon
proficiencies, an Invoker instead learns the true strike cantrip.
Armor Proficiencies. If a domain would grant new armor
proficiencies, an Invoker instead learns the blade ward cantrip.
The War Domain. Some of the powers of the war domain
need to be replaced or modified to serve the Invoker.
Stratagem
From 1st level, your god provides small moments of insight
that allow you to coordinate your tactics with those of your
allies. When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher that targets
an enemy, you can allow an ally adjacent to one of the targets
to use their reaction to make an attack against that creature.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your
Wisdom modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all
expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Channel Divinity: Battle Cry
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to
imbue your voice with a divine call to battle. As a bonus
action, you call out and any allies within 60 feet of you can
move up to half of their speed.

