3.1. HLB - Candidatus Liberibacter spp.
Os agentes etiológicos associados ao HLB são bactérias
gram-negativas, de colonização restrita ao floema das plantas,
denominadas ‘Candidatus Liberibacter spp.’, pertencentes à
subdivisão α-Proteobacteria. Além das plantas, estas bactérias
conseguem sobreviver e se multiplicar em artrópodes vetores
(Jagoueix, 1994). ‘Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus’ é a bactéria
mais cosmopolita associada ao HLB, encontrada na Ásia, Améri-
cas e de limitada amplitude na África. ‘Ca. L. africanus’ é restrita
à África, enquanto ‘Ca. L. americanus’ foi encontrada somente
no Brasil. O status quarentenário dessas bactérias para o Brasil
está descrito na Tabela 1. Pelo fato dessas bactérias não serem

4. Distribuição geográfica
No Brasil, o HLB foi oficialmente relatado nos estados de
São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Paraná e Mato Grosso do Sul (Tabela
1). Ocorre, igualmente, nos países vizinhos Argentina, Paraguai,
Colômbia e Venezuela (Figura 9). Nestes casos, a indicação é
da presença do HLB no país, não necessariamente de que todas
as regiões tenham a doença.

6. Diagnose
O diagnóstico do HLB pode ser feito com foco nos indi-
cadores sintomatológicos do hospedeiro ou na identificação do
agente causal, utilizando-se os testes moleculares e sorológi-
cos ou as observações microscópicas. A diagnose da doença no
campo, com base nos sintomas, requer treinamento adequado e
depende da experiência do observador e do estágio de desen-
volvimento dos sintomas.
