A atual proposta procurou respeitar
importante a desempenhar.
2. Empregabilidade:
a realizar o referido estágio profissional.
A18. Observations:
1. General considerations:
The current educational project intended to provide an additional training in Clinical and Health
Psychology to the holders of the 1st cycle of studies in psychology, whether they have completed the
University of Algarve first cycle of studies or a first cycle’s degree in any other national or European
University. The current proposal also sought to respect the specificities of the Algarve region, in which it
operates, placing special emphasis on training in health promotion and quality of life of populations and
competence to intervene in health settings. These concerns relate to the characteristics of the Algarve, a
region that has undergone significant changes in its urban social and cultural fabric, and constitutes, at
the same time, as the region more attractive in terms of human internal and external migrations, with a
growing population of around 15%, in each of the last three decades. At the same time the Algarve remains
the first and main tourist destination in the country and the main destination for foreign from the north and
central Europe (it is estimated that more than 7% of the population consists of residents in these
conditions).
These features, specific to the region of Algarve, were addressed in the master’s curriculum structure,
which gives particular attention to the promotion of health and well-being of people in a field in which
psychologists have a specific and important role to play.
2. Employability:
According to Article 52, point 1 of the Statute of the Association of Portuguese Psychologists, the
transition to full member requires the achievement of an internship/stage, with a duration of 12 months
after the completion of a 2nd cycle of studies in psychology. For this reason, data regarding the
employability of our students is not available to us, since in the current school year, such internships are
still ongoing.
3. Graduation Efficiency:
The data presented in field 7.1.1 include graduate students in the master in Clinical and Health Psychology,
as well as graduates in the pre-bologna version of that master´s degree (Clinical Psychology)

1.2. Coherence of the study cycle's objectives and the institution's mission and strategy.
The 2nd cycle, advanced training in Clinical Psychology and Health, is part of the mission of the University
of Algarve, namely, the aspects relating to the scientific, technical and professional qualification of human
resources, conducting scientific research, and promoting the dissemination of its results. Also,
collaboration with public and private entities at the level of knowledge transfer and knowledge and training
of highly qualified professionals to work in the job market, contributes to the fulfilling of the University of
Algarve’s scientific, technical and professional vocation, through the transfer of quality knowledge into
economic and social fabric. Also noteworthy is the 400 hours of academic training, an opportunity to
promote collaboration with the University's public and private entities (mainly in the region).
(www.fchs.ualg.pt);
destinatários do curso;

1.3. Means by which the students and teachers involved in the study cycle are informed of its objectives.
There are several means adopted to disseminate the goals of the masters’ program, including:
a) Information available on the web page of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
(www.fchs.ualg.pt);
b) Disclosure by e-mail to potential candidates of the purposes, goals, curriculum and contents of the
course;
c) Information disclosed on the Masters course and sites associated with the courses’ traineeship on
clinical psychology at the meeting on Psychology which takes place annually in the Faculty of Humanities
and Social Sciences;
e) Meetings of the direction with master's course with teaching staff.
2.1.1. Description of the organisational structure responsible for the study cycle, including its approval, the
syllabus revision and updating, and the allocation of academic service.
The FCHS is organized in two departments (Arts & Humanities / Psychology & Educational Sciences), each
with a Scientific Committee, where all PhDs professors have an assigned seat. These Committees have the
role to approve the teaching service, the creation, planning, and revisions of unit course´s syllabus and full
degrees. Those decisions are reviewed and approved by the Scientific Council of FCHS and by the FCHS
Dean. Furthermore, creations and revisions of full degrees require the of the Rector, of the Pedagogical
Council as well as the Senate of the University. The Course Directors are recommended by the Scientific
Committees and appointed by the Dean, taking into account the following criteria: doctoral degree, an
appropriate relationship between the activity of teaching / research and the core areas of the course,
academic management capacity, ability to take initiative to make improvements. They are responsible for
choosing the deputy director of the course.
As competências desse órgão incluem todas as
18.º):
pronunciar-se sobre as orientações pedagógicas e os métodos gerais de ensino e de avaliação;
estudos;
estudantes, bem como a sua análise e divulgação;
apreciar as queixas relativas a falhas pedagógicas, e propor as providências necessárias;
Científico;

2.1.2. Means to ensure the active participation of academic staff and students in decision-making processes
that have an influence on the teaching/learning process, including its quality.
For each department three teachers and three students are elected who comprise the Pedagogical Council
of the Faculty (Article 16 of the Faculty Constitution). The power of this pedagogical board includes all
matters relating to the teaching-learning process and its quality, in particular (Art. 18.):
- comment on the pedagogical orientations and general methods of teaching and of assessment;
promote the execution of reports on the functioning of the courses and cycles of studies;
monitor the implementation of the evaluation of the teaching performance of teachers, by these, and
also by students, as well as its analysis and dissemination;
assess complaints about educational failures, and propose the necessary measures;
approve the specific regulations for the evaluation of students of the Faculty, after consultation with the
Scientific Council;
Pronouncing on the regime of requirements, the school calendar, schedules and maps of academic
examinations of the Faculty.
2.2.1. Quality assurance structures and mechanisms for the study cycle.
UALG has a Quality Assurance and Assessment Office which was created in October 2008. Currently, it
consists of a supervisor, an administrative assistant and a clerk assistant.
The GAQ has the following responsibilities:
- to prepare assessment tools to support the teaching activities, research and transmission of knowledge
as well as the pursuit of quality´s objectives;
- to collaborate in the implementation of mechanisms for regular self-evaluation on the performance of the
Departments, as well as on scientific and educational activities subject to evaluation and accreditation;
- to foster procedures for the assessment and accreditation of the different courses offered;
- to support the implementation and completion of periodic reports aiming at the evaluation of the quality
of university activities;
- to assess the impact of the institution's activities in the community,to be done in partnership with the
Office for Studies and Planning;
2.2.2. Responsible person for the quality assurance mechanisms and position in the institution.
The head of the Office of GAQ, appointed in July 6th of 2011, is Dr. José Valente de Oliveira, Assistant
Professor of Department of Science and Technology, University of Algarve.

automatizada.
2.2.3. Procedures for the collection of information, monitoring and periodic assessment of the study cycle.
The evaluation of the courses follows a bottom-up approach. We elaborate a report of the Curricular Unit
for each term. The directors in charge of this degree write a report based on the collected reports from
every Curricular unit.
There is also, under development, the platform PEAad (https://peaad.ualg.pt/) which aims at collecting
online questionnaires about the perceptions of students and professors on the Teaching/Learning
processes.
This year we applied for the first time online questionnaires to all courses. However, as the “back office”
support for the PEAad platform has not yet been fully developed, the analysis of the data collected was
done manually.
The data is collected through a questionnaire which is unique for all Curricular Units, taking place on
campus, and it is conducted during a time frame of one week.
We have already defined a set of actions aimed at raising awareness on the various stakeholders, including
degree directors, professors and students.
2.2.5. Discussion and use of study cycle’s evaluation results to define improvement actions.
The planning of the quality improvement results from the discussion of the annual report, these actions
should ensure the constraints that may exist. The implementation of measures to improve the quality of the
training process of the second cycle on clinical and health psychology will be coordinated by the direction
of travel, with input from all agents involved.

3.2.2 Collaboration with other study cycles of the same or other institutions of the national higher education
system.
In terms of the offer on training, some courses of the Master in Clinical and Health Psychology are offered
as optional courses to other master degrees, in particular the Master's of Educational Psychology, Social
and Organizational Psychology, and Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology.
Algarve e as instituições parceiras.
3.2.4 Relationship of the study cycle with business network and the public sector.
Practices in dealing with the public and private institutions, including those arising under the protocols of
cooperation in the field of Clinical and Health Psychology, has as main goal to contribute to the
development and deepening of the relationship between the University of Algarve and partner/institutions.
The implementation of partnerships comprises carrying out training activities and / or research projects
together, with preferential access to the partner institution's professionals in formative activities
sponsored by the master´s directors- eg, the action of recent formation, for technical ARS's, Welfare and
CPCJs on Risk Families, in collaboration with a professor at the University of Seville. Alongside these
answers framed in collaboration protocols, there is the occasional mention the responses by teachers to

4.1.4. Assessment of academic staff performance and measures for its permanent updating
Changes in legislation for higher education institutions have raised the need to change various levels of
universities ‘organization, particularly, with regard to the evaluation of staff´s performance. As a result of
the new Teaching Career Regulations, there has been already approved the General Rules for Evaluation of
Teaching Performance at the University of Algarve. This document includes the adoption, and its approval
by FCHS, of an Assessment Regulatory Plan. From that date on, all professors will be evaluated every
three years based on four different measures: Teaching, Research, Community involvement and Internal
Management. The first two will have a weight that is twice as superior as the last two. The skills´ upgrading
and general training of professors is done primarily through participation in research projects and
research centers, some financed by the university, and also by attending courses on the use of new
technologies and their relationship to quality teaching.
4.2.1. Number and work regime of the non-academic staff allocated to the study cycle.
There are 16 (sixteen) employees allocated at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (FCHS), under
public contract (working agreement) with an indefinite conclusion period. These employees are distributed
by different offices, including front-offices and registrars, which serve the entire academic community.
None of these employees are allocated to a specific degree. In practice, this causes everyone to be familiar,
as well as to share skills, with all existing courses at FCHS, according to their distributed duties: Academic
Office, Departments, Scientific Council and Advanced Training Office, Staff Office of the Director.
4.2.2. Qualification of the non academic staff supporting the study cycle.
Out of the sixteen non-teaching employees assigned to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences,
four hold undergraduate degrees, eight have completed the third cycle of High School, two completed the
second cycle of High School, and one holds a degree that is equivalent to the second cycle of high school.

4.2.4. Advanced or continuing training courses to improve the qualifications of the non academic staff.
The University of Algarve, according to its financial resources available, establishes an annual training
plan for non-teaching staff. In general, this plan is developed from the needs and recommendations
proposed by the various departments in different colleges. In the case of the Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences, the training proposals submitted comply with the recommendations of the evaluation of
non-teaching staff in respect for what is stipulated in the Integrated System for Performance Evaluation of
Public Administration.

estudos.
5.2.1. Structures and measures of pedagogic support and counseling on the students' academic path.
The direction of the course have been ensuring a variety of activities to support the academic success of
students in second cycle of studies in clinical and health psychology, which are worth highlighting:
a) Regular meetings between the masters’ direction in the teachers’ council and also, meetings with the
students (one per semester), in order to manage expectations on each curricular unit;
b) Programs of "time management and proficiency in the study," organized by the Psychology Service of
the Social Action Office, c) Training Workshops - joint training of students in 2nd cycle and professionals
in the field,
d) After work hours attendance by teachers for working students, e) Strengthening the teacher-student
communication, through e-learning platform, in order to ensure that all students have access to materials
that support teaching and learning activities of each CU, f) Encouraging more practical work, especially in
CUs’ second semester of 1st year of the master course.
5.2.2. Measures to promote the students’ integration into the academic community.
a) Briefings and clarification sessions held at the beginning of the school year in order to clarify the
objectives of the course, possible institutions of internship, areas of research interest, presentation of
teachers who work in the courses.
b) Visit to facilities, which includes the various services of FCHS (secretaries, informatics support office,
computers’ room) and UAlg (library, academic services, canteens). For this purpose it is counted with the
collaboration of other students of the course (about only 35% of students completed their first cycle
degree in psychology in an institution other than the Ualg);
c) In later stages, participation in research seminars and other events organized as part of other courses,
and organization and promotion of events by and for students (Association of Psychology Students,
NEPSI);
estudantes.
5.2.3. Structures and measures for providing advice on financing and employment possibilities.
a) Information on scholarships and employment;
b) Support on applying to scholarships.
c) Entrepreneurship course that can be attended by students.

5.2.4. Use of the students’ satisfaction inquiries on the improvement of the teaching/learning process.
The use of the results of surveys on satisfaction is part of a more general process of self-assessment that
has been driven by the master´s degree direction, following the guidelines of the Pedagogical Council and
the Direction Board of FCHS. For this reason, the results are analyzed in three levels: in the master´s
direction, in the Scientific Council, and in focus groups of students. Upon reflection and discussion made,
concrete measures are advanced to improve the teaching-learning process, which, subsequently, will
integrate a strategic action plan of the various institutional initiatives with the goal to promote the
academic success of FCHS.
mobilidade.
5.2.5. Structures and measures for promoting mobility, including the mutual recognition of credits.
The promotion and coordination of academic mobility is carried out through the International and Mobility
Office, by developing protocols and agreements with universities abroad, being an active participant in
programmes of cooperation in higher education and articulating internally all processes with its services
and Faculties/Schools. Bilateral and learning agreements are implemented before the mobility to guaranty
mutual credit recognition. Periodic dissemination sessions of existing mobility opportunities are carried
out in each campus and Faculty/School, with the active participation of students with mobility experience.
The support to students (outgoing and incoming) is provided before departure (visa and general
information), at arrival (accommodation, residence permit) and for integration (language courses,
orientation sessions, cultural events). UAlg is also a network centre EURAXESS for mobility support to
researchers.

The plan of the professional path includes two components: one advanced training component in the 1st
year of the course, corresponding to 60 ECTS – of these, 40 ECTS account for a phase of contact with
various areas of knowledge in the field of Clinical Psychology,10 ECTS corresponding to courses that the
student chooses from interface courses from other 2nd cycle masters in psychology, or from optional
modules of clinical psychology and health-, and a deepening of research methodologies-10 ECTS, in order
to prepare them for scientific research. In the 2nd year the professional path students should expand
research skills, leading to the development of an empirical work - 30 ECTS, in addition to their curricular
traineeship in a credible institution. The 2nd year in a scientific-60 ECTS-aims the development of a
research project that will culminate in the writing of an empirical study (dissertation).

Desta
forma, parte do programa é dedicada a questões psicométricas e relacionadas a análise estatística e o uso
6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
To achieve its proposed objectives, the CU begins with an initial review of the core concepts in scientific
research methodology. This introduction is followed by detailed exposition of specific strategies for
designing a research project, collecting and analyzing of data, interpretation of results and writing of the
final report. Particular emphasis is given to methodological procedures framed by the so-called
quantitative paradigm; however, we also mention the qualitative research paradigm as a complement to the
more traditional approaches in psychological research. As consequence of this quantitative emphasis, part
of the semester is dedicated to psychometric issues and statistical analysis procedures, using specialized
software. The systematic use of real examples of research in Psychology is an opportunity to sensitize
students on the importance of methodological rigor in behavioral sciences research.

6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
The CU “Advanced Research Methods I” combines lectures with laboratory classes, mixing more
traditional approaches (expository teaching method and reading texts) with collaborative learning and
skills training. In general, the main objective is the scientific training of students as well as providing them
with the necessary skills for planning and conducting their dissertation project. Given the emphasis on
skills training, PL classes’ workload is twice the load of T classes.
T classes, although being mainly expositive, also encourage students to discuss and reflect on previous
readings; these classes are designed to provide the conceptual tools needed for the skills training
activities. PL classes adopt more active strategies in order to give students the opportunity to construct
knowledge from the information provided. Thus, PL activities include reading and oral presentation of texts
in the classroom, training sessions for use of specific software (bibliographic managers, online
bibliographic databases, statistical software, etc.), resolution of exercises
(problems/hypotheses/predictions formulation, applying guidelines for ethical conduct in the analysis of
problematic examples, identifying threats to study validity, development of psychometric instruments, data
analysis, etc.), reading and discussion of scientific articles illustrative of the topics under study, etc.
Scientific writing (including formulating research questions and hypotheses, reporting statistical results,
interpretation and discussion of results) is a fundamental skill to be developed, using direct and
constructive feedback from teachers and colleagues. The task of writing an essay on a quantitative
technique and applying this technique to the analysis of a database provided by the teacher requires the
integration of all the knowledge acquired during the semester as well as the independent application of the
trained statistical skills.
The grading system involves continuous assessment of skills throughout the semester. The final
assessment focuses on knowledge integration; however, the existence of a practical component during
exams (exercises data analysis software) makes possible to go beyond knowledge assessment and to
include skills evaluation.

6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
In order to enable students to characterize the evolution of paradigms in Mental Health (MH), the concepts
and therapeutic practices typical of each historical period are taught, as well as currently prevailing
concepts. Based on current conceptualizations, their intervention areas are developed.
With the purpose of making them understand the longitudinal influence of different factors in MH, the
characteristics of each development stage, the risk and protective factors and characteristics of MH in
specific situations are explored.
So that students understand the role of personality in the promotion of psychological well-being/ill-being,
the theme of perfectionism and of the relationship between personality, gender and psychopathology are
developed.
In order to understand key issues in this area and the characteristics of specific populations, the suicidal
behaviors and the MH depending on sexual orientation, race and religion are respectively explored.

6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
The expositive method used in the theoretical lessons aims at:
-building the theoretical basis needed to understand all the themes to study;
-giving the theoretical concepts and models underlying the practical activities to be developed later on
during the theoretical-practical lessons;
-promoting the acquisition and assimilation of knowledge that could be useful for clinical practice.
The dynamical activities developed in the theoretical-practical lessons intend:
-to demonstrate the context of application of concepts and theories developed before in the theoretical
lessons;
-to promote the development of technical skills based on theoretical models empirically proved and adjust
them to different practical situations.
In order to understand the evolution of paradigms in mental health, activities of different text
comprehension and discussion are developed in small groups of work; each group characterizes each
paradigm and presents it to the class, promoting this way the systematization and distinction of concepts.
The ability to operate current concepts and outline plans for mental health promotion is developed through
the production of written exercises about a) critical analysis of existing projects; b) creation of intervention
projects for concrete problems.
The role playing activities allow the development of skills needed to the early detection of mental health
problems and to intervention in the sense of promoting of psychological well-being throughout life and in
specific circumstances.
The analysis of clinical cases potentiates the understanding of the way theoretical matters relate to real
situations, as well as the dynamics between the several factors that influence the development and the
well-being of individuals.
Reading and systematizing contents from scientific papers allows the knowledge of concepts and recent
scientific data about the themes.
The thematic continuity during the week between the theoretical and theoretical-practical lessons along the
course allows the articulation between the acquisition of theoretical concepts and their practical
application.
The tutorial guidance is intended to support the active and reflective development of group works, one of
the assessment items, and to answer possible questions.

V. Groups and intergroup relationships
VI. Genesis of the conflicts between groups
VII. Prejudice, discrimination, infrahumanization
VIII. Negotiation and resolution of conflicts between groups
IX. Collective Action and extremist behavior
6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
This course has three main objectives to enable students to develop scientific knowledge in the theoretical
framework of the processes of identity and group interactions either in a prospective analysis of both
intervention and promotion of social processes, namely in intergroup relations. It aims to develop a critical
and reflexive sense on students and the comprehension of research phenomena as a pillar for the
intervention. As a third goal, we want students to develop scientific research skills. Therefore the program
content and teaching methodologies are based on these three goals. The syllabus includes the main
theoretical orientations regarding the categorization and social relationship with the processes and
concepts of identity vs. self. We address the processes of intergroup relations in terms of social categories
perception and social consequences, using the main theoretical perspectives.

aprendizagem.
Evaluation methodology: According to the rules of evaluation, the distributed evaluation is required for all
students and takes place as follows:
Evaluation test – 50%
Group work (2 - 4 members) – 40%
Short evaluation sheet – 10%
The group work concerns an empirical study and is presented as oral communication in poster format on
the Day of Social and Organizational Psychology, by all group members.
If the student does not obtain approval to evaluate distributed, can get through a final exam (normal time
and time of appeal)
Exam - 100%
The exam includes theoretical and practical cases adjusted to the operationalization of the learning
objectives.
6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
The learning objectives are achieved by expositive, interrogative, demonstrative and active methods
according to specific objectives. The theoretical classes are based mainly on the expositive and
interrogative methods, not excluding the use of demonstrative and active methods. The theoretical-
practical classes’ methods mainly rely on active and demonstrative methods, not excluding other methods.
According to the learning objectives are used several techniques, such as analysis of empirical articles,
case studies, exercises and groups dynamics. Students are confronted with different aspects of behavior
through case studies and dynamics. Critical reflection and discussion is stimulated over scientific studies
and intergroup relations questions, such as the relation with identity and intervention strategies on social
dynamics, through paper reviews and group work (evaluative activity).
Group work allows us to observe empirically the processes and variables of identity and intergroup
relations and promote scientific expertise. Students develop an empirical study that includes all stages,
research and theoretical discussion, operation, collection and discussion of the results presented in poster
format a scientific event. In addition to group work and evaluation activity, students perform two evaluative
activity individual wishing to evaluate the theoretical knowledge developed in the classroom and individual
study. We use various techniques and tools for learning assessment in all classes, according to the
operationalization of the learning objectives

6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
The effectiveness of assessment of EI’s programs and the advances, theoretical and empirical, in various
areas of psychology, leads to the emergence of new perspectives in the conceptualization and action,
resulting in a new paradigm of EI. It is thus essential to understanding the diversity of scientific
justification that legitimizes the importance of EI, as well as major changes, approaches, theories,
fundamentals, principles and strategies associated with the assessment/intervention for children/families
in a holistic and family-community-centered perspective. In addition, we explore various instruments and
procedures of evaluation/intervention with children/families in order to enable students to explore and
leverage the expertise and resources, identify and analyze different types of difficulties and opportunities
of the most appropriate intervention in a biopsychosocial and transdisciplinary perspective.

on specific parameters and role plays.
Distributed evaluation: (a) individual evaluation test (45%), (b) work in small groups: plan detailed and
reasoned awareness (45%) and (c) ongoing assessment - tasks performed in group classes (10%).
6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
The value of participative methodologies (e.g., exposure interspersed with analysis and discussion in
small/large group, analysis/discussion of case studies, role plays, debates), that promotes the active
construction of knowledge, will enable future professionals to identify and understand the successive
steps and procedures underlying the most appropriate assessment and intervention in EI. It will also
facilitate a dynamical integration of theory and practice and skills development that are needed to bring
professional performance to current concepts and future prospects of the EI.
Additionally, the realization of a detailed plan of training for different target audiences, in the framework of
a specific topic of the syllabus, is aimed to deepen the specific knowledge, develop a critical and reflective
investigative thinking, and integrative and interventional skills.
The selected method of continuous assessment was designed to cover different times and strategies for
assessing the critical appropriation of the knowledge acquired by the students.

determinadas alterações comportamentais e determinadas disfunções do SNC.
6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
The main objective of the Neuropsychology course is to provide the student with a fundamental
understanding of the relationship between human behaviour and its cerebral substrate and thus an
understanding of the relationships between specific behavioural changes and specific disorders of the
central nervous system. To attain this knowledge in the introductory classes, students will learn the main
diseases affecting the central nervous system. Subsequently, they will be taught in a systematic manner
the main neuropsychological disorders that occur after brain injury, including the main cognitive
symptoms that characterize each neuropsychological disorder and the main differential diagnoses. The
knowledge about each neuropsychological disorder is complemented by the main techniques for
neuropsychological assessment. To consolidate this knowledge, illustrative clinical neuropsychological
are discussed.

conhecimentos.
6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
To achieve the objectives of the course, the teaching methods include theoretical classes. In addition, the
students are involved in the theoretical classes by having to read specific scientific readings about the
topics under study and discuss together with the class. The discussion of clinical cases in the practical
classes enable students to understand, describe and relate the neuropsychological deficits that emerge
following various typical brain lesions.

6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
The distinction of the main concepts underlying psychoanalytic theory, the understanding of the
importance of early relationships in the development of the human psyche, and the understanding of
relevant theoretical models, allows students to, in a second moment, to understand in theoretically
grounded manner, the influence of psychodynamic models on the investigation on issues concerning
continuity and discontinuity throughout development, and also, the intervention methods used by
psychodynamic orientated clinicians with children, adolescents and adults.
6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
Through the use of strategies essentially explanatory (lectures), an introductory approach to
psychoanalytic perspectives on human development is made (from the classical models, up to
contemporary psychodynamic models), and on their extrapolations for psychological consultation with
children, adolescents and adults. Fundamentally, the aim is the acquisition and assimilation of the
contents by the students, in order to enable the structuring of knowledge and construction of foundations
for the understanding of other contents. The distinction between the concepts underlying psychoanalytic

theory is achieved by streamlining cooperative work in the context of the theoretical practices. In order to
enable students to analyze and understand the main nosological psychodynamic frameworks, as well as to
understand the context of interviews psychodynamic evaluation are presented in the theoretical and
practical lessons, reports of clinical cases, with discussion in the context of classroom. The appeal to the
viewing of films is used in order to promote debate within the group-class on the issues of what is
considered the normal and pathological. The ultimate goal refers to the ability to analyze the possibilities
and limitations of the psychoanalytic therapeutic relationship. For this purpose, work in small group will be
developed, in order that students realize the importance of the early infant-parents relationship for the
development of the human psyche.
Work sheets, based on the reading of articles, are done in the context of TP classes, with the main purpose
of establishing relationships between theory and practice, particularly through the analysis of theoretical
perspectives on the issues of continuity and discontinuity of psychological characteristics along the
development.

formulação do caso e tratamento.
6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
In this course is intended that the students acquire the domain of the main techniques for cognitive-
behavioral assessment and intervention and be able to apply them to different psychological disorders. To
achieve these broad objectives, the first theme of this course is focused on the process of intervention
based on cognitive-behavioral approach as a therapeutic process that addresses the assessment, the
diagnosis, the case formulation and the treatment. From second to seventh themes are presented the
theoretical and methodological foundations of the main intervention techniques. The effectiveness of most
of the techniques taught in these topics has been demonstrated empirically. Finally, eighth to thirteenth
themes are focused on the application of CBT in some of the most significant diseases in the clinic for
adults and children.

6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
Using the lecture method, encouraging debate and participation of the students are taught the contents
concerning: (a) the intervention process in CBT, (b) the theoretical and scientific bases for the instruments,
techniques and strategies for assessment and intervention and (c) the application of CBT in the main
psychological disorders. With this methodology it is intended that students: (1) acquire knowledge of the
theoretical aspects related to the CBT intervention process, (2) understand the importance of
conceptualizing clinical cases in the framework of psychological disorders approach; (3) know the
theoretical foundations of the main behavioral and cognitive techniques and (4) learn about specific
aspects of the application of CBT in the main psychological disorders.
By resolving exercises and analyzing texts in small groups and presenting the results in the large group
aims that the students: (1) acquire the domain of the main tools and techniques for the cognitive-
behavioral assessment; (2) understand the importance of conceptualizing the clinical cases in the
framework of psychological disorders approaches; (3) implement the main cognitive and behavioral
techniques and acquire skills to evaluate and analyze the results and effectiveness of the interventions
themselves.
Through the observation of models, role-plays (performed in room one-way mirror) and feedback is
intended that the students: (1) understand the importance of conceptualizing clinical cases in the
framework of psychological disorders approaches; (2) implement the main behavioral and cognitive
techniques; (3) acquire skills to assess and analyze the results and effectiveness of the own interventions,
(4) and learn the specificity of the application of CBT in the different psychological disorders.

positivismo.
narrativas; o papel do significado, linguagem e identidade; a psicopatologia narrativa; a relação
6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
In order to enable students to characterize and differentiate constructivism, its historical evolution,
assumptions, methodologies and perspectives about several parameters are taught as opposed to
positivism. The contextualization of constructivism is developed from a multidisciplinary to a particular
perspective on psychology and psychotherapy.
To understand the assertions of narrative psychology students learn definitions and characteristics of
narratives, the role of meaning, language and identity, the narrative psychopathology, the therapeutic
relationship of co-construction, and characteristics of narrative psychotherapy.
In order to enable students to implement several intervention models their theoretical characteristics are
explored and their therapeutic strategies trained.
To develop technical skills in different contexts and age groups it is explored the potential of this therapy,
for example, in the health and childhood areas.

comprehension and discussion, role playing, debate, video watching and exercises).
Tutorial guidance is intended to monitor the group work and answer possible questions.
The assessment method includes two components: a) Group Work (40%), subdivided in the written part
(25%) and oral presentation (15%) and b) Written Test (60%).
Students who obtain final grade higher than or equal to ten points will be exempt from the final
examination (100%), unless the frequency grade is equal to or less than eight points.
6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
The expositive methodology in theoretical lessons makes it possible to present the theoretical foundations
of the constructivist paradigm, concepts of the narrative psychology, assumptions of the intervention
models in both clinical and health areas and in different development stages; this way, students can
acquire the theoretical knowledge needed to the practical activities to be developed later on in the
theoretical-practical lessons and to project them in clinical intervention with real cases.
Despite the focus on the expositive method, it also uses questioning activities in order to encourage
students to have a proactive attitude towards the contents taught.
The dynamical activities developed in the theoretical-practical lessons aim to develop the technical skills
needed to understand clinical cases and their narrative psychotherapy, based on theories studied before in
the theoretical lessons.
The scientific text comprehension and discussion on constructivism, for example, allow the assimilation of
knowledge about its assumptions and distinctive characteristics and its application to psychological
science and, more specifically, to the narrative psychotherapy. The analysis of scientific papers makes it
also possible to know recent empirical data and compare results on different applicabilities and techniques
of narrative therapy.
The analysis of clinical cases enables the development of categorization skills and encoding narratives;
identification and characterization of psychopathology according to the narrative approach; and design of
complete treatment plans with selection of objectives and techniques customized to the problem
presented.
The role playing activities promote training skills in the detection of psychopathology, in the development
of narrative interview techniques, in the establishment of the therapeutic relationship and in the
implementation of several strategies of narrative models.
The thematic continuity during the week between the theoretical and theoretical-practical lessons along the
course allows the articulation between the acquisition of theoretical concepts and their practical
application.
The tutorial guidance is intended to support the active and reflective development of group works, one of

6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
The clarification of concepts related to psychological assessment in clinical and health context and the
presentation of the main explicative theories underlying the development of a psychopathology (biological,
dynamic, cognitive-behavioral, systemic) is carried out through the use of lectures. With this knowledge,
students should be able to, in the TP lessons, analyze case studies and give some possible assessment
strategies. This reflection on evaluation proposals only becomes possible through the cooperative work
among students in TP classes. In TP lessons, we also aim outlining interventions appropriated to each
clinical case. Finally, the use of articles in OT is an important support and can help students to organize
their thinking about the psychological assessment and specially to understand the human general mental
functioning.

6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
In this unity we will take a integrated approach of the positive concepts as: qualities, strengths, resources,
achievement, satisfaction, well-being, pleasure, happiness, optimism, hope, etc., that allow individuals,
communities and societies develop.
It is in this line of interest that emerges the Positive Psychology as the scientific field that focuses
primarily through the use of healthy functioning and adaptive human. Will be take account of scientific
support that sustains the growth of interest and role within the field of psychological science.
Thus, the syllabuses are organized to enable the knowledge of theory, research and practice in Positive
Psychology. By the end of this unit the students should be able frame the key concepts of Positive
Psychology in different modalities of positive psychological intervention.
- construir um projeto de investigação;
- construir um projeto de intervenção;

6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
The objectives of this curricular unit intend to give students skills to interpret the positive psychological
functioning of human behavior, because the primary goal of psychological science is to make life better for
all people and, in this context, be able to design different intervention modalities for exploration and
promoting the healthy functioning of the human.
Thus, the teaching-learning strategies include the use of expository method (theoretical classes),
coordinated with the demonstrative work developed in the practical classes.
In these last are developed several tasks, including group work; critical analysis of scientific papers;
analysis of research projects and intervention projects, among other. These activities aim to consolidate
the power of integration of knowledge to be taken over into the theoretical knowledge, practical and
research in Positive Psychology.
Tutorial classes will have the purpose of monitoring the implementation of the group assignment.

6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
In order to enable students to learn about the meaning and context of stress response development and
maintenance, various definitions and the main stress theoretical models are presented, according to an
historical perspective. Stress-inductive factors and behavioral, cognitive, emotional and physiological
responses are then explained, followed by stress management strategies and techniques. In order to
introduce the concept of life quality, the dimensions to consider in healthy lifestyles promotion are
exposed and the different approaches to quality assessment in different age groups and socio-clinical
settings are covered. Later, in order to provide students with an understanding of the applicability of the
concepts and intervention strategies taught, prevention, stress management and life quality promotion
programs are analyzed.

6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
In an introductory approach stress and life quality study, the main concepts and theoretical models are
defined and differentiated using an expositive method (in theoretical-practical lessons). Also with the use
of expositive strategies are presented: factors, response methods and coping strategies against stress-
inducing situations and main stress management and life quality promotion intervention techniques. The
study of the impact of stress on life quality is then approached through the analysis and discussion of
empirical evidence to corroborate the interaction between the two variables in different contexts. In order
to provide students with a comprehensive and integrative knowledge of stress comprehensive models and
a practical knowledge of the strategies and techniques used in prevention and intervention programs in
stress context, during the practical classes, individual and small group activities are streamlined to apply
the knowledge previously acquired in theoretical lessons. This objective is achieved using text and/or
current scientific article’s reading and analysis; movie watching; stress intervention programs analysis
and problematization; clinical cases analysis; role playing activities; progressive muscle relaxation and
other corporal expression practical exercises; problem solving training; communication styles
identification and monitoring dynamics. To enable student’s knowledge about the key assessment
measures (e.g., stress vulnerability, used coping strategies identification, life quality subjective
assessment) application, quotation and results interpretation activities are developed. Finally, individual-
specific or group-specific stress prevention and intervention programs and life quality promotion
programs are outlined. The necessary materials (texts, scientific articles, clinical cases) are previously
available on e-learning platform or provided in paper format. The tutorial guidance lessons are intended to
support the individual student work development and clarify the themes taught.

6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
For students to acquire a body of knowledge about the concepts, paradigms and models of IC, this CU
begins with its scanning/contextualization (points 1 and 2). The second moment is to address psychosocial
problems and most affected groups, in order to provide a more enlightened view on the felt needs by
communities (Section 3). Finally, we analyze the participation and social change as the main objectives in
participation and CI, as well as the structure and methodology underlying the elaboration of programs
addressing the needs of communities, using programs already developed and implemented (4, 5 and 6).
Transversal themes are the exploration of case studies, research and field projects, providing
opportunities for training of scientific and specific interventional competence, seeking to motivate

students to adopt in their communication in Psychology the conceptual rigor typical of scientific
approaches addressed.
6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
Through the use of expositive strategies and the exploitation of texts from the most important authors in
the field of CI, the first lectures are developed to carry out an exploratory view of the CI history and main
concepts, paradigms and models, as a point starting. Then examples are explored for the characterization
of psychosocial problems of the community (eg, the Social Charter and Educational Charter) and programs
implemented in response, to facilitate the assimilation of contents and the acquisition of skills by students
to structure and build bases knowledge for understanding the processes in study and transfer it to other
contents and contexts of intervention.
The activities in class TP complement the expository approach, allowing students to build knowledge,
understanding and analyzing empirical investigations and programs on the processes under study, target
populations and life contexts in which they are developed. Thus, articles and practical cases are displayed
with promotion of debate. The viewing of films takes place as a tool to support the elucidation of
processes/constructs and community responses, and as a booster for debate. The reading/exploration of
articles have as main purpose to establish relationships between theory and practice, through the analysis

of the issues under study and possibilities for intervention in the processes of participation and social
change in communities. The sessions with professionals and organizations aspire to provide moments of
shared experience and joint reflection on the answers available in the local community and as possible
examples of being streamlined in other national and international communities. It is also intended that
these sessions allow students to contact with models of CI programs. The ultimate goal refers to the ability
to analyze the potential and limits of intervention of the psychologist in the aforementioned areas.

6.2.1.6. Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives.
The objectives of this curricular unit focus on giving students the necessary abilities to design, develop
and write a qualitative study.
In the scope of this, and having in consideration the academic basis of the students that may attend to
class, the objectives involve general knowledge about theoretical paradigms and the research
methodologies that lie beneath them. However, the necessity to give specific work tools implies the
transversal development
of different qualitative research strategies in different contexts of use, deepening the ones more useful for
Psychology research. It also exists a concern on giving students tools to collect qualitative data in several
domains, as well as, in analyzing and interpreting data, knowledge that can be used in other curricular
units, in their master dissertation or even in their professional component.
Are exempt from final examination and approved to the curricular unit, students who obtain an average of
10 values, rounded to the units, in the two activities.
Students have a normal examination period and an appeal period, where the examination grade equals to
100% of the final classification.
Are approved to discipline students with a rating equal to or higher than 10 values in the exam, rounded to
the units.

6.2.1.8. Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes.
The objectives of this curricular unit intend to give the students multiple theoretical and practical skills on
qualitative methods. Thus, the use of practical cases of Grounded Theory, Narrative, and the use of data
collection strategies, Observation and Focus Groups, allow students to acquire practical competence in
designing, applying and presenting qualitative research results, with the ethical sense, excellence and
rigor desirable in a master degree in Psychology. Students should approach each method / technique in
theoretical perspective and apply their knowledge on grounding a theory on data, scoring and analyzing a
life narrative, constructing, applying and scoring several observation scales, and planning and executing a
focus group. The theoretical knowledge of qualitative methods, necessary to understand
the strategies and techniques used, will be assessed thru a theoretical sheet, which will allow the
verification of the acquisition of theoretical competence. However, the portfolio should contain a
theoretical contextualization on paradigms and theories of the strategies and techniques used.
It is indispensable to know and understand the theoretical principles underneath method and techniques,
since they have an intimate relation with the analysis and presentation of data results.
The exam mode should be used by students that can’t attend to class or did not attend to all evaluation
moments. To guarantee an adequate evaluation of the theoretical and practical knowledge, the exam will
have practical and theoretical components that allow us to evaluate their skills in using qualitative
research methods.

The methodologies used in the lectures aim to familiarize students with the latest developments of
knowledge in this area of knowledge.
The invited teachers provide bibliography and request its reading by students . In theoretical-practical
classes, the invited teachers moderate debates among the students based on content presented in the
classroom and in the provided bibliography. With the use of this methodology is intended that students to:
(1) develop the interest for research and the openness for different ways of perceiving investigation and
intervention of the clinical and health psychologists , (2) Acquire the perception that, in this and other
areas of knowledge, no definitive conclusions and absolute, and that human problems can always be
looked at from other perspectives, and (3) be familiar with new forms and models of understanding and
action in clinical and health.
Aiming the objectives above and with the support of the teacher responsible for the Curricular unit, during
the tutorial guidance classes, the students develop a theoretical review essay on a topic chosen from
among the papers presented by the researchers and experts.
6.3.1. Adaptation of methodologies and didactics to the learning outcomes of the curricular units.
The teaching methodologies are adequate for the learning objectives of the courses, by allowing the
student to progressively acquire skills in the field of Clinical and Health Psychology:
- Carry out theoretical analysis and to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge;
- Carry out independent scientific work, and develop technical and scientific reports;
- To rigorously implement methods, techniques, and psychological assessment instruments
- Plan interventions
- Participate and develop research projects / interventions;
- Act independently and in accordance with the professional ethics and norms of conduct
- Demonstrate theoretical and methodological knowledge, in order to enable the student to access 3rd
cycle studies.
In order for students to develop appropriate levels of autonomy in the implementation of formative
(curricular plan, internship and/or dissertation work), the teaching / learning is expository, reflective,
participatory and practical.

6.3.2. Verification that the required students average work load corresponds the estimated in ECTS.
At the end of each term, the average work requirements made will be checked in relation to the
corresponding ECTS settled in the master degree programme. This assessment results from the
consultation of students and teachers opinions regarding the actual study time spent to achieve the
objectives of each module. The results of this assessment will determine any adjustments in need, in order
to correspond to the content of the module, as a way to achieve a better distribution of the students’
current workload. The direction of the course is responsible for these adjustments.
A avaliação é contínua e inclui2 componentes distintas: sumativa e formativa.
grupo.
6.3.3. Means to ensure that the students learning assessment is adequate to the curricular unit's learning
outcomes.
The assessment is continuous and includes2components: summative and formative.Formative
component:results are used for feedback during the process of teaching/learning, not only with aim of
improving the students learning but also of teaching. The classes provide opportunities for students on
active reflection among peers, and teacher-students, both in theoretical and in T/P classes; individual and
group activities undertaken in T and T/P classes are formative evaluation tools; also, the final
classification's goal is to gain knowledge, to reflect on the practice, to develop skills on teamwork. In
summative assessment results are used to classify students at the end of the path: through a written test
and/or of an essay (individual or group); also, various tasks are performed outside the classroom
(reading, research, small group work) under the teacher's guidance or conducted independently, promote
self-regulation of learning and contribute to the development of students autonomy.

7.1.2. Comparison of the academic success in the different scientific areas of the study cycle and related
curricular units.
In 2009/10 the academic performance rate of the different courses in the 1st year of MPCS was 80.3%, with
an average of 15.0/20 values. Although this classification has been slightly lower than 2010/11 (14/03/20),
the academic performance rate rose to 92.0%. When we analyze academic performance in different
courses, in particular in year 2010/11, we observed that both performance rate, whether the average scores
are similar for all courses. These data may be due, to the fact that all units are part of the same scientific
field. Secondly, due to the high motivation of students who strive for good average grades before the
imminence of the supervised practice (internship). Regarding the 2nd year, the academic success rate of
students who entered in 2009/10 was 100% for both courses, with a grade average of 17.0 / 20 (dissertation)
and 17.3 / 20 (supervised practice) This increase in performance may be due to the personalized work of
the teachers with each student during this second year.
A direção do curso
do curso.
7.1.3. Use of the results of monitoring academic success to define improvement actions.
By the end of the semester, when each curricular unit ends, teachers produced a final report, analyzing the
compliance of the program and the students learning achieved outcomes. This report should also identify
possible factors compromising the students’ performance in each curricular unit conducted along the
academic year. At the same time, the Quality Assurance and Assessment Office collaborate in the
implementation of mechanisms for regular self-evaluation of the functioning of each curricular unit. At the
same time, the master direction requests a self-evaluation of students’ performance were for suggestions
for improvement of the curricular units are inquired.
Afterwards, the information gathered grants a more global process of quality assessment and
implementation of improvement strategies, developed by the master direction.

7.2.4. Real impact of scientific, technological and artistic activities on economic enhancement and
development.
The scientific activities and practices carried out in the Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Health
have an impact primarily social. Specifically,it is our policy that students, try to develop their research
projects guided by research questions with an inpact in the institutions where they work or develop their
training practice. Thus, it is a important goal that most research has practical application, looking for that
issues discussed are of an applied nature, and that investigative methodologies are in fact reflection
oriented, with possibilities of intervention in the problems under study.
7.2.5. Integration of scientific, technological and artistic activities in national and international projects and/or
partnerships.
There is a systematic effort by scientific supervisors to develop the master's dissertations within the
research lines developed by the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of
Algarve, or by the research centers that the teaching staff integrates. Several teachers supervise
dissertations in integrated thematic lines of research in which they are working, whose research teams
integrate researchers from other universities, including the universities of Seville, Granada and Huelva.
This ensures that the scientific activity of students is integrated within projects that are being developed in
international networks.
7.2.6. Use of scientific, technological and artistic activities' monitoring for its improvement.
Monitoring of scientific activity carried out within the Master's degree in Clinical and Health Psychology is
made from a set of quality indicators, among which: a) Number of dissertations completed in the time
period provided for in this cycle of studies b) research published in reference journals, c) papers presented
(oral and poster) at scientific meetings.
At the end of each training cycle, improvement strategies are defined for the new training courses, taking
as its starting point the results in each of these indicators.

7.3.1. Activities of technological and artistic development, consultancy and advanced training.
In the context of the master degree, the master’s direction, in collaboration with teachers, has been
gradually implementing a series of partnerships with various public and private community institutions, in
particular, local authorities, schools, private social welfare institutions and enterprises. The provision of
services has proceeded in the following ways: 1) seminars (workshops) aimed at the training needs of
professionals from the institution referred to above (e.g., psychological assessment in Guidance and
Career Counseling), 2) scientific supervision of psychological practice (e.g., construction of a device for
e-learning program support parental education), 3) research-action (e.g., characterization of patterns of
alcohol consumption of the school population), 4) evaluating the effectiveness of psychological
intervention (e.g, assessing the impact of career interventions in schools) and 5) consulting.
7.3.2. Real contribution for national, regional and local development, scientific culture, and cultural, sports and
artistic activities.
At first, the quality of the initial training process of the students was a priority because the quality of
human resources in this field has been identified by international agencies (e.g., OECD) as a major force in
the Portuguese education system, although, with the need to integrate a greater number of professionals in
this area. We are investing in training and in the development of research with a strong potential for
transfer to institutions linked to the Clínical and Health Psychology, whether through internships and
dissertations (e.g.,publications, intervention programs), or under specific protocols made with the
researchers who are also lecturers in this cycle of studies. For the dissemination of the work developed
under the master degree, conferences and scientific meetings have been organized, in which the results
obtained ininvestigations are reported.
7.3.3. Adequacy of the information made available about the institution, the study cycle and the education
given to students.
The information disclosed about the MA in Clinical and Health Psychology follows the channels of
communication normally used by the University of Algarve. The University of Algarve has a
communications office, which has as main objectives the management of internal and external
communication and consolidation of the institutional image of the university. In addition to the disclosure
made by the University, the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences has a website (www.fchs.ualg.pt) where
the necessary information to the public on the course is posted.

8.1.1. Strengths
With regard to the mission and objectives, the cycle of studies represents an advanced training of human
resources in the field of psychology, looking up to, with the present curriculum structure, a balance
between different perspectives of intervention, to enable students to familiarize with a plurality of
knowledge, relevant in a second cycle of training in psychology, with a view to a more scientifically based
practice.
8.1.2. Weaknesses
Even though it is as an important goal at the strategic mission of the DPCE, there is an incipient
articulation with the community and the surrounding reality, and that is embodied in a still fragile transfer
of knowledge to the community. Also, it should be noted in professional path, the absence of a module
addressed to the study of systemic therapy.
8.1.3. Oportunidades
Como oportunidades a destacar assinale-se:
- É o único curso público de Psicologia Clínica e da Saúde na região do Algarve e Baixo Alentejo;
de intervenção;
8.1.3. Opportunities
As opportunities to highlight it should be noted:
- It is the only public course in Clinical Psychology and Health in the Algarve and South Alentejo;
- The scientific approach of this course allows the opportunity for professionals in related fields
(specifically, health care)
to attend a second cycle of studies in clinical and health psychology;
- Creation of an Office of Psychological Consultation to offer services to communities in this area of
intervention;
- A predicted increase in demand for consulting services by clinical psychologists who require
accreditation at the Association of Portuguese Psychologists.
8.1.4. Constrangimentos
Como possíveis constrangimentos assinale-se:
- Pouca eficácia do Gabinete de Comunicação na transmissão da informação para a comunidade exterior;

8.1.4. Threats
As possible constraints should be noted:
- Low efficiency of the Communication Department in the transmission of information to the community at
large;
- Economic constraints existing in the National and European context are impeditive of improvement
initiatives of higher education institutions;
- The context of economic crisis accentuates the employability difficulties of graduates;
8.2.1. Strengths
8.2.2. Weaknesses
Despite the ongoing investment in a quality management system, this goal is not achieved in its fullness,
because of difficulties related to the consolitdation of a culture of self-assessment of courses.
8.2.3. Oportunidades
próprios docentes e dos inquéritos realizados aos discentes;
8.2.3. Opportunities
According to some weaknesses in the quality management system we must continue to:
- Develop a culture of effective and generalizable self-assessment into a broader set of indicators,

enhancing the results of assessments of "critical friend", the opinions of the teachers themselves and
surveys to students;
- To gather information about job satisfaction and training either from former students, or from the
employing institutions, in order to promote a more effective process of internal reorganization and quality
management.
8.2.4. Constrangimentos
8.2.4. Threats
Poor participation of students in investigations on the perception of the quality of teaching and learning
(GAQ).
Despite of an high investment of the administrative structure, we must report some problems in the
administrative support in conducting some evaluation procedures, which may somehow compromise the
outcome of the evaluation process and the internal reorganization and quality management.
8.3.1. Strengths
Adequate facilities for teaching, with audiovisual equipment and computer support and offices for
teachers;
- Laboratories, support rooms to students and computer rooms;
Existence of a set of assessment instruments with key assessment tests and psychological intervention

9.1.1. Weaknesses
Due to uncertainties regarding employability of psychologists, there is unpredictability on the demand for
second cycle courses by students, although to date this has not been a problem.
