Abstract: this paper, the result of a literature review, presents a reflection on Vygotsky,
the teacher-psychologist and founder of the Cultural-Historical Theory. With this in
mind some of the many themes of research, carried out by Vygotsky and his associates
and followers, emerge. Subjects such as human consciousness, language, activity and
education will be analyzed and the debate will focus on issues related to activity theory
and consciousness, Leontiev’s activity theory and Davidov’s proposal: a new approach
to activity theory and the proposal for developmental education.
