uniformly, convex and the axi s of coiling is straigtht. The form ratio
averages 1.5. The first volution is discoidal ad has a form ratio ave-
raging 1.1. The second volution is subspherical. Beyond the second
volution the shell is fusiform.
T he pr olocu lum is spherical or subspherical. Its o uts ide dia-
meter is 69 to 120 microns, the commonest diameter beeing 86 mi-
crons (4 out of 9 apecimens measuring 86 microns }. The pro theca
of the proloculum averages 8 microns, increasing grad ually to 17
microns in the volu tion before the last one. T he epitheca is little
developed and the chomata is. in some specimes half as high as the
heigth of the chamber adjacent to the tunnel in the last vo luti on and
one third in the two other vol uti ons befores the last one. I t has
the characteristic Fusuline lla-shape namely. the tunnel slope is steep
and the poleward slope is smooth. The diaphanotheca as a rule. is
first obse rved in the thi rd voluti on and can be seen throug hout th e
len gth of the she ll in the ou ter volutions.
The septal counts of the first volution is 9 or 10 increasin g to
21 in the fifth volution. They. are plane except in the extreme polar
regions where slight flutings may occur.
The tunnel is broad and well marked by chom ata. Its angle
varies from 21° to 53°; a gradual increase in the value of the angle
can be seen from the first to the last volution. Its p ath is strarqht
in th e axial section ot almost so.
Remarks: The charaters of the present species. small, obes e.
and having uniform convex lateral slopes and al most plan e sep ta . in-
dicate a pr imit ive form of the gen us Fusulinelle approaching to the
gen us Profusulinel1a from which Is distinguished by. the character of
the wall.
Fusulinelle bocki Moller var, d elepinei Gubler resembles the Ama-
zonian spe cies. however that species has greater number of volutions ,
is small for the same number of volut ions and is mor e highly elongate.
Among the North American species of th e same genus. Fusulinelle
velmee Thompson var velmee Thompson is the closest species having
similar development of the epitheca, similar Dumber of septa. angles
of the tunnel and degree of plication of the septa. However F .
velmee is greater and is more highly elongate and have less regular
lateral slopes.
The Peruvian species F . petuene ( Meyer ) is compl etely. different
from the Bra zilian species.
