Abstract
Population growth, with an expectation of 10 billion people in 2050, makes the
production of fertilizers essential to meet the entire demand for agricultural production.
On the other hand, it is known that their production, as well as their use, directly

on various aspects related to health and the environment, considering that as waste
from their production there are gases that can be toxic and liquid effluents, as well
as their inappropriate use in the soil can lead to fuel from the soil itself in addition to
water sources. Currently, the global use of fertilizers is very diversified, as in some
there is overfertilization that brings effects such as environmental fuel, while in
others the limited application of nutrients causes soil mining. It is necessary to
evaluate the environmental impact of fertilization and the production of this input to
make it possible to optimize this process so as not to harm the environment. For
this, it will be interesting to understand the adoption of eco-innovation in agricultural
supply chains. Current technology is advanced to the point where it is extremely
important for future developments in fertilizer production to improve nutrient
efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts.
