ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to show the evolution of money from the
first moments of economic transactions until the present day, and its importance in
economic development of nations, as the basis for an economy of exchange
depends basically on the money. In this study we used method of research literature,
and attempts to show a historical problem and their cultural contributions that the
matter involved on the society. The results indicate that currency changes were badly
needed for the evolution of humans, which continues gradually changing and
innovating all its economic environment. Concluded that without these changes
would be living in a primitive, we would not have evolved technologically or
economically. Thanks to these changes, today we have more comfort and
convenience in making purchases and making payments.
1 INTRODUÇÃO
Este trabalho pretende mostrar uma das invenções mais importantes e um dos
mais cruciais elementos da economia, a moeda e sua evolução histórica. Uma
persistente busca de instrumentos e instituições para satisfazer as três funções
clássicas exigidas da moeda: instrumento de troca, instrumento para dominação
comum de valores e instrumentos para reserva de valores.
As primeiras mercadorias-moeda não satisfaziam essas três funções. Já as
moedas metálicas, sobre esse ponto de vista, apresentam uma grande evolução, até
abordar o tema moeda ressalta que esta apresenta três funções específicas, sendo
estas a transação, precaução e especulação.
