evidências, afetando negativamente a confiança.
fatos objetivos, afeta diretamente a confiança. A pesquisa consiste na entrevista de
100 pessoas no Brasil, abrangendo diferentes perfis sociodemográficos, utilizando
This article aims to investigate the association between the level of confidence of the
Brazilian population in teaching and research institutions and the sociodemographic
profile, as well as the degree of denialist beliefs. In addition, we seek to understand
how the access to information impacts this trust. Key concepts are addressed, such
as misinformation, confirmation of bias, science politics, denialism and post-truth.
Misinformation, characterized by the deliberate dissemination of false information,
undermines the levels of trust in these institutions, meanwhile the confirmation bias
influences the selective evidence selection, negatively affecting the trust. Political
science also has a significant role on this matter, since it’s capable of compromising
teaching and research institutions’ objectivity and independence. Denialism, that
rejects established scientific evidence, casts doubt on constructed knowledge’s
validity, and the post-truth, in which feelings and personal beliefs have a higher level
of influence than objective facts, affects the trust directly. The research consists of
interviewing 100 people in Brazil, covering different sociodemographic profiles, using
a digital questionnaire. The expected results include the identification of associations
between the level of trust in the institutions and the profiles of the participants, as well
as the relationship between political and religious beliefs and the level of trust. It is
expected to find associations between restricted access to information, denialism and
lower trust. In short, this article aims to understand how the sociodemographic profile
and access to information influence the Brazilian population's trust in teaching and
research institutions, contributing to the understanding of these relationships and
providing insights into the factors that shape trust in these institutions.
