• Cachoeira é um município do estado da Bahia, às margens do Rio Paraguaçu. Está

distante cerca de 120 km de Salvador e foi fundada em 13 de março de 1832,
conforme dados da prefeitura municipal.

• Cachoeira é uma das cidades baianas que mais preservaram a sua identidade
cultural e histórica com o passar dos anos, o que a faz um dos principais roteiros
turísticos históricos do estado. Além disto, a imponência do seu casario barroco,
das suas igrejas e museus, levou a cidade a alcançar o status de "Cidade
Monumento Nacional" e "Cidade Heroica" (pela participação decisiva nas lutas
pela independência do Brasil) a partir do Decreto nº 68.045, de 13 de janeiro de
1971, assinado pelo presidente Emílio Garrastazu Médici.

• Cachoeira is a municipality in the state of Bahia, on the banks of the Paraguaçu
River. It is about 120 km from Salvador and was founded on March 13, 1832,
according to data from the municipal government.

• Cachoeira is one of the cities in Bahia that has most preserved its cultural and
historical identity over the years, which makes it one of the main historical tourist
routes in the state. In addition, the grandeur of its baroque houses, churches and
museums led the city to achieve the status of "National Monument City" and
"Heroic City" (for its decisive participation in the struggles for independence in
Brazil) as of Decree No. 68,045, of January 13, 1971, signed by President Emílio
Garrastazu Médici.

Em estilo neo-clássico, fazia parte
do abastecimento de água no
município da Cachoeira, com sete
carrancas que serviam de
bebedouros, feitas em ferro
fundido, por onde a água
escorria. O Chafariz data de 1781
e foi tombado pelo Patrimônio
Histórico em 1939.
 Imperial Fountain -
English
In neo-classical style, it was part
of the water supply in the
municipality of Cachoeira, with
seven frowns that served as
drinking fountains, made of cast
iron, through which the water
flowed. The Fountain dates from
1781 and was listed by the
Historical Heritage in 1939.

Suas nascentes podem ter
diamantes, suas margens são
férteis, possui muitos peixes em
toda a sua extensão e é navegável
das cidades que banha até sua
foz. Este rio já foi o principal
caminho de transporte e
comunicação de toda a região da
bacia que leva seu nome,
incluindo o Recôncavo Baiano.

The Paraguaçu River is a

watercourse that flows through
the state of Bahia. It is the largest
100% Bahian river. Its springs may
have diamonds, its banks are
fertile, it has many fish
throughout its length and it is
navigable from the cities that it
bathes to its mouth. This river
was once the main means of
transport and communication for
the entire region of the basin that
bears its name, including the
Recôncavo Baiano.

A Fundação Hansen Bahia reúne no
mesmo espaço chamado “Espaços
Museais”, um Museu Galeria, um
Espaço Cultura e o Museu Casa. A
fundação foi criada pelo alemão Karl
Heinz Hansen. Foi marinheiro, escultor,
poeta, escritor, cineasta, pintor e
xilógrafo. Seus primeiros trabalhos
artísticos surgiram no início dos anos
40. Karl Hansen teve a ideia de reunir
num mesmo espaço livros de gravuras
ou xilografias inspiradas em temas
bíblicos e nos escritos de Jorge Amado,
Castro Alves, Luís Viana Filho e
François Villon.

Foundation - English
The Hansen Bahia Foundation brings
together in the same space called
“Museal Spaces”, a Gallery Museum, a
Culture Space and the House Museum.
The foundation was created by the
German Karl Heinz Hansen. He was a
sailor, sculptor, poet, writer, filmmaker,
painter and woodcutter. His first
artistic works appeared in the early
1940s. Karl Hansen had the idea of
gathering in the same space books of
engravings or woodcuts inspired by
biblical themes and the writings of
Jorge Amado, Castro Alves, Luís Viana
Filho and François Villon.

As estradas de ferro tornaram-se os
principais agentes da reconfiguração do
cenário contribuindo para a formação de
novas cidades e urbanização de outras a
partir de 1860. No tocante as cidades de
Cachoeira e São Felix situadas no
Recôncavo da Bahia, as ferrovias não
apenas foram agentes de mobilização e
aperfeiçoamento do sistema de
exportação de produtos oriundos das
propriedades dos grandes empresários
do sistema agroexportador, mas também
estimulou a construção da ponte Dom
Pedro II e consequentemente a circulação
de pessoas, produtos e animais com mais
facilidade, sem contar que quebrou a
hegemonia dos vapores na travessia de
pessoas de uma margem a outra.
 Old Railway Station

The railroads became the main agents in
the reconfiguration of the scenario,
contributing to the formation of new
cities and the urbanization of others
from 1860 onwards. With regard to the
cities of Cachoeira and São Felix located
in the Recôncavo da Bahia, the railroads
were not only agents of mobilization and
improvement of the export system of
products from the properties of the
great entrepreneurs of the agro-export
system, but also stimulated the
construction of the Dom Pedro II bridge
and consequently the circulation of
people, products and animals more
easily, not to mention that it broke the
hegemony of steamers in crossing
people from one shore to the other.
