OBJETIVOS:
Entender a estrutura e a evolução dos conflitos no Oriente Médio durante os séculos
20 e 21, com ênfase no conflito israelo-palestino, analisando a interação entre fatores
internos (civilizacionais, religiosos, étnicos, de classe entre outros) e internacionais, e
discutindo as principais controvérsias historiográficas, políticas e éticas.
JUSTIFICATIVA:
O conflito israelo-palestino é objeto de um sem-número de debates acadêmicos e
políticos e de uma vasta bibliografia; ocupa um papel central na experiência
coletiva das comunidades árabe e judaica e domina suas interrelações; é um dos
temas incontornáveis nas relações internacionais atuais, com impacto significativo
cultural e religioso tanto no ocidente quanto no mundo muçulmano. É também um
assunto polemico que desafia o compromisso com a objetividade dos estudiosos.
Uma introdução à sua complexidade tem portanto relevância cientifica e cidadã.
PROGRAMA DA DISCIPLINA:
A pergunta que norteia o curso é o porque do conflito israelo-palestino (IP) nunca ter
sido resolvido, embora várias propostas de soluções de meio-termo e definitivas terem
sido, em algum momento, conhecidas e aceitas por muitos dos atores. Quais bloqueios
significativos sustentam o conflito: dessincronização das trajetórias ideológicas, falta
de vontade política, ou causas mais estruturais? Como as influências internas e
externas se relacionam às origens e ao percurso desta contemporânea “Guerra de Cem
Anos”? Quais foram os motivos que levaram à mediação externa e quais as
