I have studied hard for the exam. (presente perfeito)
They had been to Tokio three times before moving to Japan. (passado perfeito)
Verbos auxiliares
Used to
Utiliza-se esta construção verbal auxiliar para expressar uma ação que aconteceu habitualmente no
passado, mas que não ocorre mais.
I used to wake up at 5 a.m. Nowadays, I wake up at 7 a.m.
Be + used to
Quando utilizado com o verbo be, used to expressa a ideia de que o sujeito da oração está
acostumado a algo ou que algo lhe é familiar.
I like my old flip flops. I’m used to them.
Verbos auxiliares modais
Podem ser utilizados para expressar graus de possibilidade, ou seja, graus mais ou
menos fortes de certeza ou de obrigação em face de uma situação específica.
Os modais também podem indicar que uma ação ou atitude é aconselhável ou
permitida.
