Verbos auxiliares

 As formas dos auxiliares have, do e be, associadas aos verbos principais, indicam o
tempo verbal.
 I am leaving now.
 Paul doesn’t live here anymore.
 We didn’t work together at the company.
 She will finish the school project by tomorrow.
Verbos auxiliares

 As formas dos auxiliares have, do e be, associadas aos verbos principais, indicam o
tempo verbal.
 I have studied hard for the exam. (presente perfeito)
 They had been to Tokio three times before moving to Japan. (passado perfeito)
Verbos auxiliares

 Used to
 Utiliza-se esta construção verbal auxiliar para expressar uma ação que aconteceu habitualmente no
passado, mas que não ocorre mais.
 I used to wake up at 5 a.m. Nowadays, I wake up at 7 a.m.

 Be + used to
 Quando utilizado com o verbo be, used to expressa a ideia de que o sujeito da oração está
acostumado a algo ou que algo lhe é familiar.
 I like my old flip flops. I’m used to them.
Verbos auxiliares modais

 Podem ser utilizados para expressar graus de possibilidade, ou seja, graus mais ou
menos fortes de certeza ou de obrigação em face de uma situação específica.
 Os modais também podem indicar que uma ação ou atitude é aconselhável ou
permitida.

Use should ou shouldn’t no texto abaixo para dar conselhos sobre como
proceder caso alguém seja picado por uma cobra:

You should / shouldn’t stop the victim moving too much. You should / shouldn’t
check the person’s temperature and breathing. If the snake is dead, you should /
shouldn’t keep it for later examination. You should / shouldn’t cut into the bite. You
should / shouldn’t keep the person calm. You should / shouldn’t immediately take the
victim to the nearest hospital.
