Estrutura do Presente Contínuo:

Sujeito + To Be (am / are / is) + Verbo Principal

Carl is taking a shower now. He is not taking a bath.

Regras ortográficas:

Quando o verbo terminar na letra “e”, ao acrescentar


o -ing, a letra “e” some.

dance → dancing take → taking


close → closing

Quando o verbo terminar na sequência de letras

Consoante + Vogal + Consoante (regrinha do CVC) e

a sílaba tônica for a última (ou tiver uma sílaba só),

dobramos a última consoante ao acrescentar o –ing.

put → putting stop → stopping run


→ running

*Exceção: lie → lying
