Saúde.

DEFINIÇÃO DE DOR
DOR AGUDA
Estímulo nocivo excessivo que provoca uma agressão tecidular efectiva, dando origem a
uma sensação intensa e desagradável.
DOR CRÓNICA
Dor persistente que, para além da patologia de base, provoca no doente alterações
biológicas e psicológicas.

MEDICAMENTOS COADJUVANTES
As medicações analgésicas estão indicadas para o alívio da dor aguda, dor pós-operatória,
dor crónica e controlo mais eficaz da dor intra-operatória.
Estas medicações podem ser administradas antes do tratamento, com vista a um maior
conforto imediatamente após a intervenção.
Os Opióides não são considerados medicamentos de eleição na maioria dos casos de dor
dentária. Estes reservam-se a uma pequena percentagem de doentes que apresentem dor
severa e descontrolada.

OUTROS CONCEITOS
Estudos demonstram que a combinação de Paracetamol com AINEs são muito eficazes no
controlo da dor dentária, administrados em conjunto ou intercalados.
Esta combinação, em doses que não excedam os limites diários quer de Paracetamol quer do
AINE utilizado, deve ser eficaz no controlo da dor no espaço de 48h. Caso não se verifique, o
doente deve ser re-examinado.

Se a Penicilina V não for efectiva, devemos associar Metronidazol (1000mg como dose
de ataque e depois 500mg 6h/6h)
