Agora observe a imagem a seguir.
exato momento?
Ex: Lucas is painting
Fiona and Augusto are eating
Joaquín is listening to music
nesse exato momento? Right now? Eu estou ensinando sobre o Presente Contínuo (I am
teaching about Present Continuous). And you?
A estrutura desse tempo verbal é:
ATIVIDADE DE FIXAÇÃO 1
1) Observe the picture and answer: what are they doing? Choose the best option:
Do you know Mr Bean? We are going to watch a video about his routine:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IacjiYGj9l4. After watching it, pay attention and answer:
what was he doing?
E qual
foi o motivo de seu atraso? Observe que He was sleeping at 8:00.
a) He was sleeping at 8:00 o´clock
b) He was getting up
He was shaving
He was running…
3) Look at the picture below and choose the best option about what these people were doing
last Saturday:
a) Catherine and Heidi were watching a movie
b) Jack was cooking
c) Jenny and Molly were writing
d) Dave and Frank were playing table tennis
4) Look at the comic strip below and answer: what was the problem? What was the man doing?
Is this correct? Explain it.

Lateral Thinking
1 According to the handbook of the latest conference he has given at Harvard Edward De
Bono is a “World authority on the teaching of thinking and the development at thinking skills.”
His mission to elevate human ingenuity began very early on: as a medical graduate student, he
demonstrated that a 25-cent whistle could test lung functions, replacing a US$90 machine.
5 Disappointed by the cognitive-psychology courses he had taken, De Bono’s interest in
mental processes was reawakened by the computers used in medical research. Specifically, he
says he became interest in thinking that computers cannot do.
In New Think: The Use of Lateral Thinking in the Generation of New Ideas, one of his more
than 30 best-selling books, De Bono introduces his concepto f lateral thinking, which the
10 Oxford English Dicitionary define as “a way of thinking which seeks the solution to
intractable problems through unorthodox methods”
What De Bono specifically means by Lateral Thinking is a creative jump in the mind, a
sideways leap from the usual line of step-by-step, “vertical” logic used to solve a problem in a
traditional manner. In thinking about a problem – designing a vehicle, for instance – the mind
15 leaps to a seemingly unrelated idea: an orange, say. Then the mind builds a path back toward
the original idea. Suppose the vehicle has orangelike globes for wheels, which would enable it
to move sideways into a parking space. Unworkable idea? Possibly. But De Bono points out
that lateral, or creative, thinking, unlike the traditional vertical thinking, can include “wrong”
steps on the way to a successful conclusion.
20 One thing that makes his views on creativity more scientific than rival guru’s is tha De
Bono’s ideas are based on s theory of how the brain Works, which some people believe might
be the key to designing computers that think.
