Like in many other countries, there are a lot of holidays in Brazil. On the first of January we
celebrate the New Year’s Day. On December 31 st, New Year’s Eve, a lot of people wear white
clothes to bring good luck. January is also school holiday. A lot of people travel to the beaches
because January is also summer time in Brazil. Carnival takes place in February and sometimes
in March too. There are a lot of celebrations throughout the country. We also have the world
most famous carnival in Rio de Janeiro. In April we celebrate Easter, a religious holiday. On the
first of May is the Labor Day. June is a school break. On the 7th of September we celebrate the
Brazilian national day, they also called “Independence Day”. On the 12th of October is our Lady
Aparecida’s Day, another religious holiday. The proclamation of the republic is in November and
finally we have Christmas time in December.
