Revision 0:
During a flight, the mission was shortened after the pilot smelt something burning and heard an air leaking
noise. During the landing phase, the pilot also noticed an engine power loss.
The helicopter landed without further incident.
On completion of the flight, a P2 air pipe was found separated from its union. Analyses were conducted and
revealed corrosion on one of the unions of the P2 air heating/demisting system pipes. This corrosion is the
cause of the pipe separation.
Consequently, Airbus Helicopters introduces a periodic check on the unions of the P2 air pipes.
Revision 1:
Airbus Helicopters has defined modification 074765, which is applicable only to AS350 B2 and B3 version
helicopters and cancels the instructions given in this Service Bulletin Revision 0 for some of the P2 air
system pipes. It consists in replacing some aluminum pipes of the P2 air heating/demisting system with
stainless steel pipes, and adding a sleeve at each pipe union, in order to reduce the risk of corrosion related
to aluminum pipes.
For these reasons, Airbus Helicopters cancels the instructions given in this Service Bulletin Revision 1 for
pipes which have been replaced through:
Following difficulties encountered in the procurement of lubricant CM1008 for compliance with this Service
Bulletin, Airbus Helicopters proposes the use of grease CM158 as an alternative, and recommends the use
of lubricant CM1008 where possible.
Revision 1 does not affect compliance with Revision 0 of this Service Bulletin.
Revision 2:
Airbus Helicopters has defined modification 074866 as applicable to all AS350 helicopters. This involves
replacing the aluminum pipes of the heating/demisting system with stainless steel pipes to prevent any
corrosion.
The purpose of revision 2 is to cancel the directives of this Service Bulletin for helicopters POST MOD
074866 through the Service Bulletin No. 21.00.25.
Revision 2 does not supersede the previous revisions of this Service Bulletin.
Revision 3:
Revision 3 of this Service Bulletin informs that this Service Bulletin is no longer applicable following the
integration of its contents in the documentation:
- for B2 and B3 versions, Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and Master Servicing Manual (MSM),
- for other versions, Maintenance Manual (MET) and Master Servicing Manual (MSM).
