Title: daily life in home space: Home health care from the perspective of
bedridden people
Summary: in the quest to understand how people experience in their daily lifes, ways to
care for and be cared for is who is this research. The human being at home plays
numerous actions that make up your daily life. Actions ranging from the management of
the home, self-care and care made to other people. With the installation of important
functional limitations, the binomial health-disease becomes present in the household
routine, performed actions change, and new forms of health care are incorporated day
after day. The implementation of this research is justified by the characterization of the
population eligible for occupational therapy, as well as the limited number of studies
published that give emphasis to the bedridden individuals, being the most thematic
studies aimed to caregivers and/or health professionals. The central objective for the
implementation of this project was to investigate the perception of people bedridden
about health procedures at home. We used a qualitative methodological approach,
where, from the production of narrative texts, written by the researcher, motivated by
the oral histories of users included in the Home Care Program to a Health Unit of Porto
Alegre, identified and analyzed information on self-care in the home space. In this
investigative course was possible to notice that despite very different stories, this
population has speeches and experiences that are connected, because insofar as the
functional dependency sets in a trend of minor involvement in self-care and
occupational engagement. Therefore, this study has been the contribution to the
debate, outlined by a double movement: the expression of oral history from those who
made their stories; And listening and the watchful eye of a researcher who allowed the
construction of narratives and the discussion on the subject.
