Voz ativa significa que uma frase tem um sujeito que atua sobre seu verbo.
Voz passiva significa que um sujeito é um receptor da ação de um verbo.
Uma frase na voz passiva é composta por sujeito + verbo principal + objeto.
Já na voz passiva, queremos dar ênfase para o objeto que está sofrendo a ação, e não para o sujeito. Não
costumamos muito utilizar a voz passiva na linguagem cotidiana, já que ela é considerada mais formal e
comum na escrita. Usando a mesma frase anterior como exemplo, temos:
The thief is arrested by the police (voz passiva)
The thief was arrested by the thief
Uma frase na voz passiva é composta por: sujeito paciente + verbo auxiliar to be + verbo principal no
particípio passado + objeto agente
