The hyaluronic acid filling injection is recognized as a safe and effective option for filling
wrinkles, scars, increased lip volume, nasojugal groove and remodeling of the facial
contour, although even if the safety of HA fillers is significant, adverse reactions are
still possible. Some situations can increase the incidence of these reactions, which are:
the volume and stratification techniques used in the procedure, class of products and
repeated applications in the long term. Thus, the present study aims to describe the
adverse event of intermittent and persistent late edema caused by the application of
hyaluronic acid. For this, a narrative bibliographic review was carried out, based on the
search for studies researched in credible sources of scientific information using
electronic databases. Through the research, 30 articles were identified that deal with
cases of local subcutaneous edema associated with the presence of HA fillers, and
edema episodes were reported as recurrent, in the previously affected area or in
another injection site. Although infrequent, the appearance of intermittent and
persistent late edema after filling injection, cannot be characterized by a definitive
cause, only if it is assumed that its occurrence is a combination of differences in the
patient's anatomy, technique and type of technology HA used.

1 INTRODUÇÃO
(CROCO; ALVES; ALESSI, 2012).
granulomas, despigmentação cicatrizes e edema tardio intermitente persistente
