Peço, por favor, que não me entenda mal, prezado irmão de armas.
O objetivo deste livro não é torná-lo um um proficiente em língua inglesa. O
objetivo deste livro é credenciá-lo em inglês junto ao Centro de Estudos de
Pessoal do Exército.
missão de sua patrulha não é outra senão o credenciamento no idioma inglês.
...
Esteja pronto, o tempo está chegando / Be ready, time is coming.
Quando eu concluí meu curso de aperfeiçoamento de sargentos, em 1997 /
back in 2007, fui chamado, junto a outros colegas de armas diversas, à
presença do comandante da Escola, àquela época chamada CIAS SUL. Ele
E a missão no
exterior é o grande objetivo quem tem os olhos que lêem este livro. Quando
digo missão no exterior, eu me refiro àquela de dois anos, quer seja em
Aditâncias Militares, em Órgãos Internacionais diversos, em Escolas de
Formações ou na Comissão de Compras do Exército, em Washington. Em
missões como essas, o militar leva sua família e pode lhes proporcionar uma
visão espetacular de uma outra cultura e de outros costumes. A missão no
exterior é um prêmio pela dedicação do militar e pela dedicação de sua
família.

O sistema é bruto. Esteja certo. / It is a very brutal system. Be sure.
O sistema do Exército é bruto, como costumo dizer aos que me cercam no
meu vasto minúsculo ciclo de amizade. O sistema é estatístico, guia-se por
fatos demonstrados em dados. “A” é credenciado em inglês (ele é o cara / he

para o idioma inglês, é o mesmo que o fuzil para o soldado. Outra coisa
pertinente a ser dita é que o público-alvo deste livro conhece muito bem
nosso idioma português, assim que o livro não é feito para ensinar o conceito
das coisas as quais são basicamente os conceitos de todos os idiomas
praticados no mundo civilizado. Muito interessante ressaltar que tarefas
extra-livro tais como músicas a serem estudadas e reportagens em sítios
estrangeiros diversos devem ser tomados como sugestões, e não imposições,
claro. Claro, também, que é nessas situações que entra a disciplina
consciente que os militares temos. Você decide / You decide.
...
Ainda em metodologia / Still in methodology.
enriquecimento substancial do vocabulário. E o precioso tempo não poderá
ser perdido... Tudo, sempre deverá ser motivo para se escrever uma sentença,
uma mensagem ou um pequeno texto. A partir deste período, você já deverá
mudar alguns hábitos regulares, tais como começar a ouvir mais músicas em
inglês (algumas recomendarei, para estudo de letras) e também ouvir rádios
de notícias em inglês (http://affiliates.foxnewsradio.com/radio/player.html
… http://wtop.com/?nid=706 … Por exemplo). Outra boa ideia é assistir a

a. Irregular Verbs
...
If you remember Regular Verbs you know how simple they are.
Let's take a look again on them. In affirmative form of the present the verbs
for subjects 'I', 'you', 'we' and 'they' keep themselves in infinitive form and
the verbs for the subjects 'he', 'she' and 'it' have generally addition of 's' as the
same way of plural, or the addition of 'es' for those verbs that endding in 'o'.
...
(Se você se lembra dos Verbos Regulares, você sabe o quão simples
eles são. Vamos dar uma olhada de novo neles. Na forma afirmativa do
presente, os verbos para 'I', 'you', 'we' e 'they' se mantêm na forma infinitiva
e os verbos para os sujeitos 'he', 'she' e 'it' têm geralmente a adição de 's' da
mesma maneira do plural, ou a adição de 'es' para aqueles verbos que
terminam em 'o').
...
In negative form of the present the verbs for subjects 'I', 'you', 'we'
and 'they' receive the auxiliary verb 'to do' (do) and keep themselves in
infinitive form and the verbs for the subjects 'he', 'she' and 'it' receive the
auxiliary verb 'to do' (does) + 'not' and keep themselves in infinitive form.

os verbos para 'he', 'she' and 'it' recebem o verbo auxiliar 'to do' (does) + 'not'

...
In affirmative form of the past tense the verbs for all subjects will
receive addition of 'd' or 'ed'. What really matters is that the verb must

receive the auxiliary verb 'to do' in the past tense (did) + 'not' and keep

(Na forma afirmativa do passado, os verbos para todos os sujeitos
receberão a adição de 'd' ou 'ed'. O que realmente interessa é que os verbos
têm de terminar em 'ed'. Na forma negativa no passado, os verbos para todos
os sujeitos receberão o verbo auxiliar 'to do' no passado (did) + 'not' e
manter-se-ão no infinitivo. Nada mais).
...
In affirmative form of the future tense the verbs for all subjects will
receive addition of the auxiliary 'will'. In negative form of the future tense
the verbs for all subjects receive the auxiliary 'will' + 'not' and keep
themselves in infinitive form.

So the Irregular Verbs are the same of the Regular Verbs in the
Present and the Future Tenses. You will find differences only in
affirmative for of the Past Tense because they are irregular for God
sake. They are conjugated in different ways and you have not to figure out
why they are so different. You have just to memorize them. I know it is a
heck of a mission and soon you will realize it too. But it is the way things
have to be done.
... (Então, os verbos irregulares são a mesma coisa do verbos
regulares, no presente e no futuro.

'er'. Então, temos...)
...
(2) When we talk about words with two syllables ending in 'y'
comparatives of superiority are formed changing 'y' for 'i' and then adding
'er' at their ends:
...
(Para palavras com duas sílabas terminando em 'y', compartivos de
superioridade são formados mudando 'y' para 'i' e então acrescentando-se 'er'
em seus fins):
(a) Adjective Form (Two syllables, ending in 'y'): [lucky, lazy, crazy]
- There are a lot of myths about being a military from Army. People think
we are kind of lucky for the great health we have. They also think we are
crazy for the things we do. Thanks God they do not think we are lazy for
the things we do not do.

somos sortudos pela grande saúde que temos. Eles também pensam que
somos loucos pelas coisas que fazemos. Graças a Deus, eles não pensam

(b) Comparative of Superiority Form (Change 'y' for 'i' and add 'er':
luckier, lazier, crazier):

people are lazier than São Paulo people. Why does anybody could think
like that? I do not know the answer. I just know that in São Paulo there are
lots of baianos.

(Então, você acha que o pugilista é mais louco que jogador de futebol? Eu
concordo com você. Quero dizer, se você der uma olhada na situação do
Mohamed Ali, você verá que não há dúvida sobre isso.)

(3) When we talk about words with two syllables or more, except
those that ending in 'y', comparatives of superiority are formed by 'more
adjective than'. Simple like that:
...
(… exceto aquelas terminadas em 'y', comparativos de
superioridade são formados por 'mais adjetivos que'. Simples assim):
(a) Adjective Form (Two syllables or more, except those that ending

three paragraphs. They are 'introduction', 'development' and 'conclusion'. I
do mean you do not have to write more than this. People out there at the

we are.

Key Sentences / Frases-chaves: (Português apenas para

Oh boy! Now it is time to get the big dragon by its tail. From now
on Portuguese language will be used here only for some explanations. You
will see that next grammar subjects will not be that difficult but you are at
the level you are supposed to do things by yourself. Please, have your
dictionary with you.
In this period we are going to study the advanced conjugations of
the verbs beginning at the Present Perfect, having some look at the Past and
Future Perfect, working with the modal verbs and the phrasal verbs and the
passive voice. I hope we have a great trip through this jungle of knowledge.
a. Present Perfect
...
Key Sentences: (Misto de presente e passado. Aconteceu em um
tempo qualquer no passado com importância no presente. Verbo auxiliar 'To
have' no presente + particípio do verbo principal.)
...
Generally it is a miscellany between the present tense and the past
tense. Present Perfect is used to say about an action that happened at an
unspecified time in the past and has some importance in the present. The
exact time is not important in this case. We can use Present Perfect with
unspecific expressions such as: 'ever', 'never', 'once', 'many times', 'several
times', 'before', 'so far', 'already', 'yet' and others ...
1) How to Form the Present Perfect:
To form the Present Perfect we need to use the auxiliary verb 'to
have' (has / have) in the present tense and the past participle of the main
verb.
It is something like this:
I, you, we, they have Studied, eaten, done, become, been, worked...
I have been here many times and I never forgot any of my friends.
He, she, it has Cried, jumped, talked, watched, washed, put...
She has talked a lot with them before. I think the situation is not under
control.
Way of the Cows by Gerson Aguilar (So Possible Dream) …...................... - Fl 178
2) Structure
Affirmative Clause
Grammatical Structure (Subject + to have + past participle)
- I have learned to concentrate myself already. I am feeling real good to
take handle of this situation. / (I've learned...).
…
- He has been very busy lately with all those negotiations between workers
and employer. / (He's been...).
…
- They have spent all their money trying to make things right.
…
- I think I have met her twice already. But I am not feeling confidant
enough to take her out for dinner.
…
- I do not believe people have already traveled to the moon. Do you?
…
- She has washed her car once and now it is my turn to wash mine.
Negative Clause
Grammatical Structure (Subject + to have + not + past participle)
- I have not learned English lately. I have not learned German neither.
Actually I am a completely illiterate. / (I haven't learned...).
…
- He has not seen that movie yet. In fact he does not like movies at all. /
(He hasn't seen).
…
- They have not gone to the club many times. They are so busy at work. So
they have no time for fun. Bad for them.
…
- People have not traveled to the moon before. Maybe someday they will.
Interrogative Clause
Grammatical Structure (To have + subject + past participle)
- Have you talked to the boos about my situation here?
…
- Has he cleaned the house before? I do not think so!
…
- Have they ever been here last month?
…
- Have we seen each other many times?
…
- Has anybody ever climbed the Flag Peak at least one time?
Way of the Cows by Gerson Aguilar (So Possible Dream) …...................... - Fl 179
2) Structure
Affirmative Clause
Grammatical Structure (Subject + to have + been + gerund)

you to study the song 'Rhythm of love' by Plain White T's. As I said before,
the methodology is the same you already know. Have some fun. You are
almost there.
l. Conditional Sentences
1) Conditional Sentence # 1
(From Simple Present to Simple Future)
- It is very possible that the condition will be satisfied:
- (If) you study hard, you will pass the exam of the Center. // You will pass
the exam of the Center (if) you study hard.
[ If you study hard ] is the conditional sentence in the Simple Present.
…
- Will you have a good time if you find a new job? // If you find a new job,
will you have a good time?
…
- If I do not find my car keys, I will take a cab to go home. // I will take a
cab to go home if I do not find my car keys.
Note: When the if comes first we have to separate the two sentences
by a comma (,). Just like that.
2) Conditional Sentence # 2
(From Simple Past to 'Would' + Infinitive)
3) Conditional Sentence # 3
(From Past Perfect to 'Would have' + Past Participle)

2) Reported Speech
...
Reported Speech is well known as Indirect Speech in Brazil. It does
not matter because it is the same thing. The fact is that when we use
Reported/Indirect Speech, we are commonly talking about what somebody
originally spoke in the past. So, the verbs commonly have to be in the past
too.
The difference now it is that we are using our own word to inform
or communicate what another person had said. Take a look at this example:
Another person: I am going to do what I do best.
Reported Speech: He said that (he was) going to do what he (does) best”.
...
Did you see? Usually we see the pronoun 'that'' to help us to
understand that it is a Reported Speech sentence. And we also commonly
use 'if' or 'wheter' in interrogative sentences.
When we inform or communicate something someone has said we
have to go back a tense. That is what we call 'Tense Change'. From now on I
am going to show you how the tenses are supposed to change when we make
Reported Speech (the basic ones, of course). Take advantage from this
matter to remember all the Tenses we have studied before:
a) Present Tense into Past Tense:
Another person (Mário): She is an African woman.
Reported Speech: Mário said she was an African woman.
Another person (Julie): I am glad to be able to help you out.
Reported Speech: Julie said (that) she was glad to be able to help me out.
Another person (Teacher): Is he busy with his homework?
Reported Speech: The teacher asked (if) he was busy with is homework.
Reported Speech: Julie said that she was working out and not losing weight.
Another person (Teacher): Is he doing his homework?
Reported Speech: The teacher asked (whether) he was doing his homework.
Reported Speech: Mário told me he had already drunk this perfect red wine
once.
Another person (Julie): They have studied hard in this school before.
Reported Speech: Julie said that they had studied hard in this school before.
Another person (Teacher): People who have been to Valencia for a long
while usually learn to speak Spanish very well.
Reported Speech: The teacher told us that people who had been in Valencia
for a long while usually learn to speak Spanish very well.
Reported Speech: Mário said that she had been working on this project
since last year.
Another person (Julie): Have they been studying hard in this school for ten
days?
Reported Speech: Julie asked me if they had been studying hard in this
school for ten days.
Another person (Teacher): I have been teaching this matter for a long time.
Now I am done.
Reported Speech: The teacher said he had been teaching this matter for a
long time and then he was done.

Conclusion
Well my friend, this is it. Take a deep breath and prepare yourself to
go ahead. Do not forget to practice a lot when you have your free time.
I am sorry in certain way to say you that we are done with this
book. We have spend a lot of time together trying to figure the English
language out and I assume we have reached a great level of understanding of it.
From now on you are all by yourself and I am pretty sure you will
make your dreams come true and you will be very successful searching your
goals and objectives. But do you know what? You can reach me anytime you
want on galoyola@yahoo.com.br and get some help you need. And I do
mean it.
I told you at the beginning of this book that its objective was not
make you a proficient speaker in English language. So here we are, and I
really think you are now very capable to be accredited in the test of the
Center of Study of Personal of the Brazilian Army. I think you are almost
ready to carry out the mission of your patrol.
...
Time is still coming but now you know the importance of being
accredited and able to go abroad and represent your country and your Army.
Now you know the importance to work in Brasília at the Brazilian Army
Commander Office (Be smart, try to work there). Now you know who gets
the cake. Now
I really hope destiny gives you a big smile. And remember to say
to you: “Yes, I can!”
The luck keeps up with the soldier of the Army!
Good luck again!
