Cataract
Cataract is a disease characterized by the loss of transparency of the crystalline
(natural lens) whose function is to focus objects.
Causes
1. Natural aging
2. Excessive exposure to radiation
3. Punch in the eye
4. Diabetes
5. Overuse of medication.
types of cataract
Senile cataract- is related to age and appears at the age of fifty (50).
There are three types of senile cataract:
Nuclear cataract: is the change in color of the lens, which turns yellow.
Cortical cataract: Occurs in the lateral region of the lens.
Posterior subcapsular cataract: affects the posterior lens capsule and is associated
with diabetes.
Congenital cataract is a malformation of the lens during pregnancy.
