RESUMO
ABSTRACT
In Brazil, public policy discussions regarding the use of the herb Cannabis Sativa,
known as marijuana, have gained notoriety and divergences. The choice of the
theme of the work that I am introducing is mainly due to the great interest that
Neuropsychology has awakened since the first periods of the psychology course.
The question that is meant to solve with this is dependence on the use of marijuana,
which its possible impact directly impacts on society and provides knowledge for
choosing the use of the substance. The psychoactive drug acts on the central
nervous system, modifies behaviors and in the long term causes damage to
memory and therefore it is an area of public health interest.
Another important aspect is the increasing use of Cannabidiol, a substance present
in marijuana as a medicinal treatment for seizures in epileptic patients due to its
calming effect. The immediate positive result invades common sense, generates a
certain comfort in the lives of patients and families, however the World Health
Organization cannot verify, until the dear moment, that it is a safe treatment in the
long term and therefore does not recommend the use.
