no ambiente.
consequentemente alguns constituintes destes ecossistemas.
Currently, one of the biggest environmental concerns is the pollution of ecosystems with plastic waste (RPs), which, due to their increasing consumption and incorrect disposal, tend to accumulate in the
environment, causing serious effects on the landscape, on the biota (set of living beings in a given region) and potentially on human health. Among the various RPs, microplastics (MPs) stand out, defined as
particles (< 5mm), mostly resulting from the degradation of RPs, which cause several ecological impacts, ranging from the potential threat of accidental ingestion with consequences for organisms, to the
problem of their ability to adsorb, concentrate and transport organic pollutants.

of this waste can occur in several regions from coastal to urban causing
several ecological impacts. In order to avoid these consequences, it is
necessary to promote reflection on the need to stop the growing pollution
of our ecosystems and apply the principles of plastic reduction, reuse and
recycling, especially the one-time use, with the community. To improve the
quality of life and the preservation of nature, humankind must respect all
living beings and that only happens if the human being is educated and
knows how to teach. Becoming aware of the consequences of the
accumulation of plastic in the ocean is a good first step towards a more POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
promising future. AND HOW TO MINIMIZE ITS EFFECTS
Plastic is a highly resistant material that can take many years to degrade in the environment.
Plastic wastes constitute a large portion, especially in volume, of solid waste collected in the
world and, without proper treatment, when abandoned incorrectly, are accumulated and
cause soil, river and ocean pollution, affecting consequently some constituents of these
ecosystems.
To address this problem, some strategies are currently applied in the treatment of
plastic waste in general, such as landfilling, incineration and recycling or
its biodegradation, however, the landfill capacity is limited and incineration
is still considered a high cost and polluting process. The process of reusing
plastic through recycling aims to avoid greenhouse gas emissions
that, to a certain extent, result from incineration. Although
preferable, recycling involves too much labor
for cleaning, sorting and identification materials (GRADUS et al.,
2017; MARINICHEV and MARSHALKA, 2012; REDDY et al., 2003).
However, each individual has an important role and can
contribute with simple actions since replacing plastic
bags, cups, cutlery and bottles by similar reusable; avoid
plastic packaging and containers, avoid the use of
straws, participate in garbage collection, use recycling
