INTRODUCTION

The present work of an evaluative nature, aims to approach about the rains. Rainfall is a
fundamental step in the water cycle, essential for the maintenance of life on the planet. When
very bulky, they can cause problems in urban areas.

4
The difference between relief rain and convection rain

Relief rains are usually accompanied by thunder, lightning and hail. The warm front, on
the other hand, is caused by the advance of a mass of warm air over its opposite, giving rise to
stratum-type clouds. The highest clouds are formed only in case of high instability. The
duration of frontal rains varies according to the permanence of the front system.
Convective rains also called summer rains or convective rains occur because of the
difference in temperature, humidity and pressure that occurs in the atmospheric convective
cycle. Let's see how this cycle takes place: The air, when heated and filled with moisture, is
less dense and therefore has a tendency to rise to higher areas of the atmosphere. Upon
reaching the upper layers of the atmosphere, it forms cumulus or cumulonimbus clouds;
When these water vapor-filled clouds encounter cooler upper layers of the atmosphere,
condensation and precipitation occur. This is thermal convection motion. (Guitarrara, 2020)

The type of rain that occurs in my region

In my region (Northern Mozambique) frontal rain occurs, formed from the collision of
two air masses with different characteristics of humidity and temperature, one being hot and
humid and the other cold and dry. This process gives rise to what we call fronts.
Guitarrara, (2020) A cold front is caused by the advance of a cold mass over a warm one,
and there is a tendency to form clouds of high vertical development, which are known as
storm clouds. The rains are usually accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and hail. The
warm front, on the other hand, is caused by the advance of a mass of warm air over its
opposite, giving rise to stratum-type clouds. The highest clouds are formed only in case of
high instability. The duration of frontal rains varies according to the permanence of the front
system.
Average annual temperatures vary between 24˚C and 26˚C, rainfall varies between
1000mm and 2000mm. The hot rainy season is longer than the dry season.

CONCLUSION

Niassa province is a subdivision of Mozambique, located in the extreme northwest of the

country. Its capital is in the city of Lichinga. It is the largest province in Mozambique in terms
of area — 122,827 km² — and, according to the 2007 census, the one with the least
population — 1,170,783 inhabitants.
