A long time ago, there lived a Partridge under a big, green tree. One day, he decided
to go to the fields and find some food. Seeing plenty of food in the fields, he stayed
on for many days.
While the Partridge was away, a Hare started living in his house.
When the Partridge had enough to eat, he decided to return. But, he found a Hare
living in his house. “This is my house. It belongs to me. Leave my home,” said the
Partridge to the Hare. The Hare replied, “The house belongs to whoever is living in it.”
Soon, both of them started fighting for the house.
There was a Cat in the neighbourhood. They decided to ask the Cat to solve their
problem. The Cat acted like he was helpful. He was actually a cheat.
The Partridge and the Hare explained their problem to the Cat. The Cat pretended to
be hard of hearing. He said, “Sorry! I can’t hear you. Please come closer.”
So, the Partridge and the Hare went closer to the Cat. The wicked Cat grabbed them
and ate them up.
When two people fight, the third one takes the advantage.

completo.

Texto 1
Once upon a time, a wealthy widower marries a proud and haughty woman
as his second wife. She has two daughters, who are equally vain and selfish.
The gentleman has a beautiful young daughter, a girl of unparalleled
kindness and sweet temper. The man's daughter is forced into servitude by
the girl's stepmother, where she is made to work day and night doing menial
chores. After the girl's chores are done for the day, she curls up near the
fireplace in an effort to stay warm. She often arises covered in cinders, giving
rise to the mocking nickname "Cinderella" by her stepsisters. Cinderella bears
the abuse patiently and does not tell her father, who would have scolded her.
One day, the Prince invites all the young ladies in the land to a royal ball,
planning to choose a wife. The two stepsisters gleefully plan their wardrobes
for the ball, and taunt Cinderella by telling her that maids are not invited to
the ball.
As the sisters depart to the ball, Cinderella cries in despair. Her Fairy
Godmother magically appears and immediately begins to transform
Cinderella from house servant to the young lady she was by birth, all in the
effort to get Cinderella to the ball. She turns a pumpkin into a golden
carriage, mice into horses, a rat into a coachman, and lizards into footmen.
She then turns Cinderella's rags into a beautiful jeweled gown, complete with
a delicate pair of glass slippers. The Godmother tells her to enjoy the ball,
but warns her that she must return before midnight, when the spells will be
broken.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American
singer, dancer, entertainer, and recording artist. Michael Jackson epitomised
the era of pop in the 70s, 80s and 90s, earning himself the title the King of
Pop. He remained a global icon until his untimely death in 2009.
Despite achieving his goal to be a music performer, Michael’s childhood was far from
happy. He was regularly beaten and threatened by his authoritarian father. This
legacy of abuse left Michael scarred throughout his adult life.

Gavin Williamson has been sacked as defence secretary following an inquiry into a
leak from a top-level National Security Council meeting.
Downing Street said the PM had "lost confidence in his ability to serve" and Penny
Mordaunt will take on the role.
The inquiry followed reports over a plan to allow Huawei limited access to help
build the UK's new 5G network.
Mr Williamson, who has been defence secretary since 2017, "strenuously" denies
leaking the information.
In a meeting with Mr Williamson on Wednesday evening, Theresa May told him she
had information that provided "compelling evidence" that he was responsible for
the unauthorised disclosure.
In a letter confirming his dismissal, she said: "No other, credible version of events to
explain this leak has been identified."
"I appreciate you offering me the option to resign, but to resign would have been to
accept that I, my civil servants, my military advisers or my staff were responsible:
this was not the case," he said.
The inquiry into the National Security Council leak began after the Daily Telegraph
reported on the Huawei decision and subsequent warnings within cabinet about
possible risks to national security over a deal with Huawei.
BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg said sources close to the former defence
secretary had told her Mr Williamson did meet the Daily Telegraph's deputy political
editor, Steven Swinford, but, she pointed out "that absolutely does not prove" he
leaked the story to him.
Security correspondent Frank Gardner said the BBC had been told "more than one
concerning issue" had been uncovered regarding Mr Williamson during the leak
inquiry and not just the Huawei conversation.

Where I want to start telling is the day I left Pencey Prep. Pencey Prep is this school
that's in Agerstown, Pennsylvania. You probably heard of it. You've probably seen the
ads, anyway. They advertise in about a thousand magazines, always showing some
hotshot guy on a horse jumping over a fence.
tempo verbal Simple Present e Simple Past.
acontecido.
Vejamos um exemplo:
“When we consider the ubiquity of cellphones, iPods, personal computers and the
Internet, it’s easy to see how science (and the technology to which it leads) is woven
into the fabric of our day-to-day activities. When we benefit from CT scanners, M.R.I.
devices, pacemakers and arterial stents, we can immediately appreciate how science
affects the quality of our lives. When we assess the state of the world, and identify
looming challenges like climate change, global pandemics, security threats and
diminishing resources, we don’t hesitate in turning to science to gauge the problems
and find solutions.

Vejamos um exemplo:
Rain is the primary source of fresh water for most areas of the world, providing
suitable conditions for diverse ecosystems, as well as water for hydroelectric power
plants and crop irrigation.
The phenomenon of rain is actually a water circle. The concept of the water
cycle involves the sun heating the Earth's surface water and causing the surface water
to evaporate. The water vapor rises into the Earth's atmosphere. The water in the
atmosphere cools and condenses into liquid droplets. The droplets grow until they
are heavy and fall to the earth as precipitation which can be in the form of rain or
snow.
However, not all rain reaches the surface. Some evaporates while falling
through dry air. This is called virga, a phenomenon which is often seen in hot, dry
desert regions.
Uso de verbos imperativos com um comando (Cut the card, slice the
onoin);
Ingredients
2 free-range eggs
250ml/9fl oz milk
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Grease and line two 20cm/8in sandwich
tins.
2. For the cake, place all of the cake ingredients, except the boiling water, into a large
mixing bowl. Using a wooden spoon, or electric whisk, beat the mixture until
smooth and well combined.
3. Add the boiling water to the mixture, a little at a time, until smooth. (The cake
mixture will now be very liquid.)
4. Divide the cake batter between the sandwich tins and bake in the oven for 25–35
minutes, or until the top is firm to the touch and a skewer inserted into the centre of
the cake comes out clean.
5. Remove the cakes from the oven and allow to cool completely, still in their tins,
before icing.
6. For the chocolate icing, heat the chocolate and cream in a saucepan over a low
heat until the chocolate melts. Remove the pan from the heat and whisk the mixture
until smooth, glossy and thickened. Set aside to cool for 1–2 hours, or until thick
enough to spread over the cake.
7. To assemble the cake, run a round-bladed knife around the inside of the cake tins to
loosen the cakes. Carefully remove the cakes from the tins.
8. Spread a little chocolate icing over the top of one of the chocolate cakes, then
carefully top with the other cake.
9. Transfer the cake to a serving plate and ice the cake all over with the chocolate
icing, using a palette knife.
2. Estruturas gramaticais
