ABSTRACT
Probiotics are living microorganisms that measured correctly bring benefits to the
host’s health and normally its supplementation is focused on intestinal health.
However, on the last few years, clinical applications of probiotics enlarged in many
other ways. As athletes are often submitted to excessive levels of stress, nutritional
strategies are applied as countermeasure for stress agents inducted by training. This
way, the aim of this work is to determine the effects of supplementation of probiotics
in athletes’ revenue. It is a systematic review of literature about the effects of
supplementation of probiotics in athletes’ revenue. The research was made upon
computerized data base, such as Pubmed and Scielo. After filtering, according to
inclusion and exclusion criteria, five papers were selected. It was possible to notice
that supplementation of probiotics seems to present benefits and improve athletes’
health, though more research is necessary.
