Universidade da Carolina do Norte em 1966

Favorecer a educação de alunos com autismo em apoio ao seu
desenvolvimento pessoal a partir de um ponto de vista
funcional, evitando assim sua institucionalização
EM QUE ELE CONSISTE?
É uma metodologia individualizada destinada a alunos com TEA que
apresentam sérias dificuldades de comunicação e socialização em
nível funcional, especialmente alunos com TEA com deficiência
intelectual ou outros distúrbios associados, como o Transtorno
Específico de Linguagem (TLE)

● O ponto de partida de cada aluno é avaliado em termos de capacidade, necessidades e
prioridades (também com a família)
● É elaborado um plano totalmente individualizado no qual o progresso será feito
progressivamente a partir desse ponto de partida

PARA TODOS OS TEAs?

1. O AUTISMO É UM ESPECTRO
Não devemos colocar todos os alunos do espectro "em uma única
cesta". O TEACCH é uma metodologia muito interessante e eficaz
para trabalhar com alunos com TEA e deficiências intelectuais ou
atrasos graves de linguagem, mas não deixa de ver o autismo
como um déficit
2. AUTISMO E ALTA HABILIDADE
Não devemos nos esquecer de que os alunos com autismo e altas
habilidades se beneficiarão de metodologias voltadas para o
desenvolvimento de talentos e de outras medidas educacionais
voltadas para alunos com altas habilidades

3. BANIR O TERMO "TRANSTORNO"

Para se afastar da ideia de que o autismo é uma deficiência em si,
entre a população autista, o objetivo é banir o termo transtorno e
substituí-lo pelo termo Condição do Espectro do Autismo (ASC)
para desassociar o autismo do déficit
