Ancestral gestuality: the traffic between Candomblé
and the theater
ABSTRACT
Through understanding the use of the body and orality as a means of
transmitting knowledge within Candomblé, this article aims to discuss
in academic dialogue - using the studies of the authors Zeca Ligiéro,
Richard Schechner and Diana Taylor - the possible methods of scene
artist preparation using Afro-Amerindian cultural motifs as a way of
restoring behaviour and the transmission of incorporated knowledge.
