Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde was an Irish writer, who is famous for his poetry, plays and
children’s stories. Wilde was born in Dublin, Ireland. His father was a doctor
and his mother was a poet. He went to Oxford University and was very popular.
His first book, Poem was published in 1881. In 1884 he married Constance
Lloyd and wrote the charming fairy tales The happy Prince and Other Tales.
His novel The Picture of Dorian Gray was published in 1990 and shocked
the Victorians. After a series of scandals, Wilde was arrested and sent to prison
two years. When he was released, he went to Paris where he died in 1900.
