ALBERTO ESPAY
Dr. Alberto Espay is professor and endowed chair of the University of Cincinnati
James J. and Joan A. Gardner Family Center for Parkinson's Disease and
Movement Disorders. He has published more than 220 peer-reviewed research
articles, 25 book chapters and five books. His research efforts have focused on
the measurement of motor and behavioral phenomena in and clinical trials for
Parkinson's disease as well as in the understanding and management of
functional movement disorders. He currently serves the International Parkinson
and Movement Disorders Society as chair of the Task Force on Technology and
Secretary of its Pan-American Section.

Dr. Miller holds the A.W. and Mary Margaret Clausen Distinguished
Professorship in Neurology at UC San Francisco where he directs the Memory
and Aging Center. As a behavioral neurologist whose work emphasizes brain-
behavior relationships, he has reported on the emergence of artistic ability,
personality, cognition, and emotion with the onset of neurodegenerative
disease. He is the principal investigator of the NIH-sponsored Alzheimer s
Disease Research Center and program project on frontotemporal dementia.
Additionally, he helps lead the Tau Consortium, the Bluefield Project to Cure
Frontotemporal Dementia, the UCSF Parkinsons Spectrum Disorders Center,
and the Global Brain Health Institute. He has been awarded the Potamkin
Award from the American Academy of Neurology and elected to the National
Academy of Medicine.
IGNACIO F MATA
Dr. Mata is currently Assistant Staff at the Genomic Medicine Institute (GMI) at
the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF) and Assistant Professor of Molecular
Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western
Reserve University (CCLCM-CWRU). Dr. Mata created and coordinates the Latin
American Research consortium on the Genetics of PD (LARGE-PD), a
collaboration of more than 40 institutions in 14 countries in Latin America and
the Caribbean, trying to identify the genetic risk factors associated to PD in
these populations.
