(AGE) NAS COMPLICAÇÕES DO DIABETES
A injeção intramuscular de produtos finais de glicosilação avançada, em animais
hígidos, produz modificações morfológicas e fisiológicas semelhantes àquelas encontradas
no diabetes (BROWNLEE, 1994)
PFGA foram reconhecidos como agentes promotores das lesões celulares que
contribuem para o desenvolvimento das complicações secundárias da doença.

Lisina
N--carboximetil-lisina pode também ser formada por um
mecanismo alternativo que consiste na adição do glioxal (aldeído
oxálico), resultante da oxidação da glicose, com resíduos lisil das
proteínas.

Formada por glicose, frutose, pentoses ou ácido ascórbico, que
reagem com os aminoácidos lisina e arginina (GRANDHEE & MONNIER, 1991)
