6 Descrição do produto
6.1 Descrição do produto
Engomadora a vapor

Engomadora a gás
a vapor central.

e a arca.
Secção do rolo
Travessa

JENSEN DENMARK A/S Descrição do produto | 6
Conforme

Isto irá reduzir a
capacidade da máquina.

Função, arranque:
Quando a máquina é ligada, é ativado o arranque lento do vapor. A
corresponde a totalmente fechado e 100% a totalmente aberto no
programa do PLC.
Ajuste:

NOTA
Correias gastas.
Correias trapezoidais
Verificar se as correias trapezoidais estão apertadas. Voltar a apertar,
se necessário.
NOTA!
Rolamentos do rolo
Lubrificar os rolamentos do rolo.
Parafusos e cavilhas
Rolamentos do motor
2 Caixa do filtro
Assim, a
Repetir as vias do

rolo.

Água do processo:
engomadora.
observadas as seguintes orientações no último
limpeza.
NOTA
É extremamente importante que apenas vapor seco saturado circule
no sistema.
fornecida à JENSEN DENMARK A/S.

surized.
Special measures of precaution must be taken if it is impossible to
carry out the above while the machine or part of it is stopped.
When performing maintenance in the electric cabinets, it is exceed-
ingly important that the following basic safety precautions are fol-
lowed:
– Lock the relevant power switches in position “0”
– Wait at least 5 minutes to ensure that any capacitor is completely
discharged before intervening in the electric cabinet.
When the maintenance work is terminated, the machine can again be
handed over to the operating personnel for normal operation.

6 Product description
6.1 Product description
The Ironer is used for drying and ironing of damp linen.
The Ironer consists of one or more sections with heated surfaces. The
type of heated surface varies according to the type of Ironer.
When the linen passes over the heated surfaces, the moisture evapo-
rates. Exhaust systems extracts the moisture from the machine.
The damp linen enters the Ironer typically from a Feeder. If the
Ironer is equipped with the optional Inlet table, linen can be manually
feed into the Ironer as well.
Steam Ironer
These type of Ironers consist of one ore more roller sections with
heated chests. The chests are heated by dry, saturated steam. The
steam must be supplied to these Ironers from a central steam boiler.
As an option, some Steam Ironers can be converted for thermal oil
heating. The heated thermal oil must be supplied from a central oil
boiler.
6 5 3 2
Gas Ironer
These type of Ironers consist of one ore more roller sections with
heated chests and a boiler section. The chests are heated by thermal
oil. The heated thermal oil are supplied from a integrated gas-fired
burner and heat exchanger, thus making the Ironer a stand-alone
unit, independent from a central steam boiler.
Fuel
Fuel for the gas-fired burners are typically: natural gas, propane gas,
butane gas or a mixture of these.
9 8
7 1
6 5 3 2
Hybrid Ironers
The Hybrid ironer consists of a roller section with a heated chest and
a calender section with heated rollers. Both the chest section and the
calendar section are heated by dry, saturated steam. The steam must
be supplied to these Ironers from a central steam boiler.
8 4
5 3 2
Inlet
The linen enters the Ironer at the Inlet, where it is guided in between
the roller and the chest.
Roller section
A roller section consists of a rotating roller and a chest.
The roller is fitted with springs and felt to help protect the chest and
ensure friction between the linen and the chest. Friction between the
linen and the chest optimizes the ironing and drying of the linen.
Each roller is equipped with a separate suspension, to ensure the cor-
rect positioning of the roller.
Gap piece
The gap piece covers the gap between two roller sections.
A large gap piece is available thereby increasing the Ironing surface
(Option)
Calendar section
The Calendar section consists of three steam heated rolls, for gentle
and frictionless drying of the linen.
The linen are guided past the three rollers using belts.
Ironer tape
Ironer tapes guide the linen through one roller section to the next
one. The Ironer tapes also guides the linen, when it leaves the outlet
of the Ironer.
Outlet
At the outlet, the linen exits the Ironer.

6 Output connections
The safety system ensures the correct function of all safety-related
switches. The controller unit of the safety system is situated in the
electrical cabinet of the machine.
All safety-related switches are fitted with two sets of contacts. These
sets of contacts are connected to two independent, parallel circuits.
If any of these circuits is broken, the safety relay stops the machine.
As the two sets of contacts in a safety-related switch cannot be acti-
vated or deactivated at exactly the same time, the safety relay allows
a small slack between the two. If the slack exceeds the maximum
value, the safety system will detect this as an error, thus preventing
the machine from restarting.
To reset the safety system, the fault must be localized and rectified.
The Trisafe safety relays can be configured freely and hosts 20 safe
inputs, 4 safe outputs, 4 signal outputs and 2 clock outputs. The re-
lays can be used for monitoring safety stops, safety doors, light grids
an so on. Depending on the cabling, it can be used up to performance
level e.

When the packing is intact and the machine is still mounted onto the
wooden frame, the machine package is prepared for transport by the
use of a fork-lift truck.
Do not use a forklift, if the machine is not mounted on to the wooden
frame.
Transportation of the machine package by using a fork-lift
truck:
– Check the lifting capacity of the fork-lift truck. The lifting capacity
must be equal to or exceed the weight of the machine or machine
package. The weight is stated in the technical data in these origi-
nal instructions or is indicated on a label placed on the packing.
– Check that the lengths of the fork-lift truck forks are equal to the
width of the package near the lifting point on the machine pack-
age. The fork-lift truck forks must have at least the same length
as the width of the package.
– Lift the machine package from the position with the arrow down
symbols near the wooden frame.
– During transportation and handling with a fork-lift truck, the forks
must be situated proportionally to the center of gravity which is
indicated on the package.
Transport the machine package near to the final destination for the
set-up.

wooden transport frame.
– If wheels for the machine are supplied, please mount these on the
machine part, while it hangs clear of the floor.
– Move the machine parts to its final spot and start assembling the
machine or machine system.
Make sure that the set-up is in accordance with the mounting and
foundation plan.
CAUTION
Machines equipped with a service bridge and extended conveyors
may tip over when entering the service bridge, unless the telescopic
tubes have been mounted.
Handrail
Machines with high service areas.
The handrails are to be assembled with the provided clamps and fit-
ted in the mounted base elements.
CAUTION
To prevent the parts of the handrail from sliding apart, the Allen
screws in the clamps must be tightened with a torque of at least 39
Nm.
Safety guards
The supply includes the necessary safety guards, which are or may
be installed on their respective places. When the machine forms part
of a production line or machine system, it may be delivered with
safety guards to be positioned between the delivered machine and
the machines in the line or system.
When two or multiple machines in line are manufactured by JENSEN
DENMARK A/S, the safety guards are adjusted between these and
those in the line.
If machines manufactured by JENSEN DENMARK A/S are in line with
machines from other manufacturers, the safety guards will only be
adjusted to the machines from JENSEN DENMARK A/S.
An adjustment to machines from other manufacturers is required on
site.
The safety guards must be adjusted to the machines in both ends,
and must be properly bolted on.

8.1 Installation
Mechanical installation
Position the rear machine section precisely in the prepared position
on the supplied foundation plates. These should be placed underneath
the four levelling screws.
Now align the machine section correctly using a spirit level. Place the
spirit level on the inlet edge of the chest and adjust the levelling
screws at the inlet until the inlet is level. Then place the spirit level at
the bottom of each side plate and adjust the levelling screws at the
outlet until the side plates are level. This machine section has now
been set up and is levelled.

2 Bolt, M20 x 60
3 Bolt, M6 x 20
4 Side casing
Install and level the other machine sections in the same way. When
the next machine section has been set up close to the adjacent ma-
chine section, assemble the machine sections with conical pins. Drive
the pins into the vertical edges of the side plates (2 in the pipe side
and 2 in the drive side, pos. no. 1).
When the conical pins have been inserted, tighten the machine sec-
tions together with the supplied shiny M20 x 60 bolts (2 in the pipe
side and 2 in the drive side, pos. no. 2). Likewise connect the side
frames with each other by tightening them together with the supplied
shiny M6 x 20 bolts (8 pieces in each side, pos. no. 3).
This means that only assembling the flange connections in the attach-
ment end is required.
This means that only assembling the flange connections between the
machine sections and the flange connections in the attachment end is
required.
An appropriate number of bolts and gaskets are delivered for this
purpose.
NOTICE!
Do not lubricate the graphited asbestos-free gaskets with copper
grease or other lubricants.
Only tighten the flanges together with the supplied black steam bolts
(DIN 931 - 5.6).
Grease the threads of the steam bolts with graphite when the pipes
are assembled, as this reduces the risk of caking.
The upper pipe always serves as the feeding pipe for the chests,
whereas the lower pipe serves as return flow. So check that the filter
is mounted with the correct flow direction on the feeding pipe before
mounting the connection at the end of the machine.
Connect the internal piping system as follows:
a) Assemble the flanges of the return pipes. Tighten the bolts while
ensuring that the connections are tight.
b) Assemble the flanges of the supply pipes. Tighten the bolts while
ensuring that the connections are tight.
NOTICE!
Always tighten the bolts diagonally.
Exhaust system
The exhaust system consists of a ventilation pipe which is connected
to the exhaust fan by a heat and water resistant hose.
This ventilation pipe functions as manifold for the fans on the rollers.
The manifold pipe is divided into sections and is placed in pipe sup-
ports directly under the catwalk on the pipe side of the machine.
When the machine sections have been assembled, loosen the pipe
supports to facilitate the assembly of the manifold pipe. When the
manifold pipe is assembled, re-tighten the pipe supports in their orig-
inal position. Mount the hose couplings from the fans to the connect-
ing pieces of the manifold pipe.
If any damage of the insulation of the manifold pipe is observed, it is
recommended to repair it by means of the supplied aluminum tape.
NOTICE!
It is important to ensure a satisfactory function of the machine's ex-
haust system!
In order to obtain this, the accompanying pipe system to be installed
at the laundry should as a minimum be dimensioned according to the
following guidelines. If the pressure loss in the piping system in-
creases as a consequence of dimensioning errors, this will cause a re-
duction in the exhaust capacity. This will reduce the capacity of the
machine.
In case of a short distance between the ironer and the outlet to the
outside, that means less than 15 m including bends, the exhaust pipe
can be made as a channel with a diameter of 200 mm. In case of
longer distances we recommend that a larger pipe diameter is used.
When planning the exhaust channel, please see the following tables
that contain information on pressure loss and the dynamic pressure
by different pipe dimensions. They also contain information on the
equivalent pipe lengths for various part elements in an exhaust chan-
nel.

Pneumatic mounting
NOTICE!
The air hoses must be pushed all the way into the fittings. If not,
there is the risk of the hose being pushed out by the air pressure and
this may cause damage to the hose.
When the supply pipe has been led forward to the machine, it can be
attached to the manifold at the machine rear end on the pipe side.
However, it is recommended that a block valve is mounted nearby
the machine as well.
When the internal and external pneumatic connections are correctly
attached, the compressed-air supply can be opened and the roller will
raise.
Electrical mounting
NOTICE!
Check that the phase sequence at the main switch is correct.
The power cables for the exhaust motors are coiled up and hung over
the input shaft of the gear in each section of the machine. Put these
cables in the galvanized cable trays at the bottom of the machine
sections and guide them to the electric cabinet. Connect the cables in
the electric cabinet to the switch with the corresponding number.
The power plug with the cable to the power supply for an optional
feeder is coiled up and hung over the input shaft of the gear in the
last section of the machine. Put the cable in the galvanized cable
trays at the bottom of the machine sections and mount the power
output plug inside the first section of the machine.
The cable for connecting the Control Panel is coiled up and hung over
the input shaft of the gear in the last section of the machine. Put
these cables in the galvanized cable trays at the top of the machine
sections and insert the plug in the switch. The switch is located be-
hind the Operating Panel.
The cables for connecting the PT-100 sensors are assembled on the
pipe side in the last section, where they are coiled up and hung over
the fan motor. Put these cables in the cable trays at the bottom of
the machine sections and connect them by assembling the plugs that
carry identical numbers.
When all internal electric connections have been established and
checked, the main supply cable can be connected to the main switch
in the electric cabinet.
CAUTION
It is the responsibility of the service engineers to ensure that the
safety-related parts of the control system works, so that pushing any
emergency stop button will stop the whole finishing line.

Vacuum is generated in the roller (pos. no. 1) by means of a fan
(pos. no. 3). This vacuum is measured by a transducer (pos. no 4)
and is regulated by a motor-controlled damper (pos. no. 7). The sub-
pressure value Vacuum (Pa) is set in the PLC's parameter settings
(pos. no. 5).
Adjustment
The set point for the servo controller is adjusted in the PLC. It is pos-
sible to store different set points for different recipes.
a) Push the button to ensure that the beam with the scraper plates
is pulled away from the roller.
This push button is situated at the rear end of the machine on the
drive side.
Normal operation
During normal operation the button must be pushed and light up indi-
cating that the control of the beam has been activated. The beam will
automatically be displaced when the roller is raised or lowered.
b) Check that the roller in the chest section is in the rest position
(lifted approximately 200 millimeter from the chest).
NOTICE
Risk of damaging the chest, roller or needle felt
If the roller is not lifted, the compressed-air system in the machine
must be checked. The lack of lifting the rollers may also apply to the
compressed-air supply in the laundry.
Start the machine by pushing the start button (pos. no. 2).

WARNING
Do not reduce heating time
The heating time must under no execution be reduced!
Intensified heating results in very large heat stress in the chest and
as a consequence it reduces the lifespan of the chest.
When the air pressure and the temperature in the chest are above
their minimum value, the message “Ready to start” is shown in the
status bar of the display on the operating panel. The ironer is now
ready for production.
Press the green start button (pos. no. 3) to lower the roller and start
the ironer.
In order to preheat the felt, the roller should run in the chest at low
speed for about 5-10 minutes before starting the production. This
time can be used for cleaning and waxing the chest.
Multiple roller machines:
NOTICE!
The rollers are lowered consecutively, the last roller being lowered
first. This prevents starting ironing before all the rollers are ready for
the production.
Does the main motor not start, please check if all of the connected
accompanying machines are running.
Does the main motor not start in spite of the connected accompany-
ing machines are running, call the technical staff. Raise the roller by
pushing the red stop button (pos. no. 4) in order to spare the needle
felt.
Adjustment:
Opening of the steam valve for slow start is adjustable in a parame-
ter. Typically, this is set to 7.0, meaning that the valve opens at 7%.
The machine is equipped with a pressure transmitter so that the
steam pressure is regulated to a “standby pressure”. The standby
pressure is maintained as long as the roller is raised. On lowering the
roller, the standby pressure is regulated to the working pressure,
which is actual for the current recipe, provided that the “standby
pressure” was reached.
The “standby pressure” equals the setpoint of the safety pressure
control.
When the roller is lowered, the steam valve opens fully, provided that
the safety pressure control was activated.
NOTICE
Risk of water hammer
To prevent "water hammer", heating must take place through the
valve for slow start. The reason is that "water hammer" may cause
damage to the manometer, the steam traps and particularly the
chests.

ton once more sets the PLC running again.
The halt and run function facilitates a manual setting of inputs and
outputs with a view to checking if the connected devices are working
properly.
Input, function
Each input / output can be forced to either "On" or "Off" .
Not the position of the "On" / "Off" keys, but the actual tap on the
key determines whether an input or an output is forced or not.
2 3
Now another input is marked in the selection bar. The forced "On"
key was already tapped by the previous input, but this does not imply
that the actual input is forced "On". No hand is shown at the status
bar (pos. no. 1).
The hand above the down arrow (pos. no. 3) is still visible and indi-
cates that at least one I/O is forced "On" or "Off".
The selected input is now forced "Off" by a tapping the forced "Off"
key . A Hand is shown at the status bar (pos. no. 1). As the input
is forced "Off", there is no green colored dot, neither on the hand nor
on the left-hand side at the selection bar.
When the status bar is scrolled away from the previous input, the
previous input does not differ from any non-forced inputs with the
value "Off".
To disable the forced "On" to the first selected input, the forced "On"
key must be tapped twice. As the forced "On" key was not al-
ready tapped, the key must be tapped "On", before the second tap
can disable the forced "On".
Output, function
2 3
When an output is forced "On" or "Off", the following will take place:
The hand (pos. no. 1) indicates that the marked I/O in the selection
bar is forced "On". Contrary to the input, the dot in the hand does not
change color.
The dot in the left-hand side of the selection bar does not change
color even when it is forced to the opposite of what it is already (pos.
no. 2).
If at all there is a forced I/O, a hand is visible above the down arrow
(pos. no. 3). It may be difficult to find the forced I/O's as you must
scroll through all the I/O's to look for the hand at the bottom left
(pos. no. 1). If you want to clear all the forced I/O's at once, turn the
Halt PLC button off and on again.

The Connection list shows the systems or machines connected to the
network (LAN).
Connection ON/OFF
The State ON or OFF-list shows whether the connection between the
current PLC and the PLC of the specified network location is at-
tempted set On or Off. For example when the connections between
the machines in a production line is established, the PLC-program can
let the ironer in the production line continue and empty the roller, if a
feeder or stacker should not function. The error signal sent from the
particular machine is handled in the PLC-program of the ironer.
To activate a connection between a system or a machine, tap the
"Off" button in the state field. The text on the button will now read
"On" (State of connection) and when the connection is successfully
establishe,d the Status field will read "Link Up".

Electric motors
Clean dust and threads from the cooling ventilators of the motors. If
cleaning with compressed air does not help, dismount and manually
clean the ventilator cover.
NOTICE
If the ventilator covers of the motors are blocked, cool-
ing is reduced.
This can cause damage to motors and result in a production stop.
Belts
Check belts for defects. Cut off any threads with a pair of scissors.
Remove any threads of linen from the belts. Immediately change de-
fective or worn out belts.
Tighten belt lanes, if necessary.
NOTICE
Worn out belts.
Worn out belts may result in unprecise transport of linen, which will
reduce the quality of the finished linen.
Machine
Wipe off dust and lint thoroughly behind cover plates and under the
machine.
WARNING
Risk of fire
Remove dry dust from all mechanical and manual handling of linen
areas of the machine and its close surroundings, as an accumulation
of such increases the risk of fire in the machine.
Roller
Check that the diameter of the roller is correct.
If mounted, check the sub-pressure in the rollers by reading built-in
vacuum meters.
V-belts
Check that the V-belts are tight. Re-tighten, if necessary.
NOTICE!
Too loose V-belts result in increased wear of V-belts, and too tight V-
belts can shorten the life of the bearings.
Readjust the belt tension after 10-12 hours of operation by new V-
belts.
Pneumatic system
Check that the pneumatic system is leak-proof.
Roller bearings
Lubricate roller bearings.
Bearings on motor
Regrease bearings after 3000 hours of operation or at least once a
year, whichever comes first.
CAUTION
Hazard to hands and fingers
Protection gloves should be worn when handling powerful detergents.
Supply the machine with a special wax cloth with a pocket for the
wax. The top side of this pocket should be of a heat-resistant mate-
rial that cannot be penetrated by the wax when being melted in the
machine.
It is recommended that after the pocket the wax cloth also has a strip
of cloth for absorbing redundant wax, if any. The strip of cloth helps
to spread the wax on the chest.
When the machine is put into operation in the morning:
a) Select the "Wax" recipe.
a) Wax the chest by putting fresh wax into the wax cloth, and let it
run through the machine twice.
b) At the second passage, the cloth should not be supplied with ad-
ditional wax.
If the wax cloth does not cover the total width of the chest (pos. no.
1), it is recommended to accomplish the processing laneways. Repeat
the process laneways corresponding to the ratio of the width of the
chest and the wax cloth.
On waxing the chest lanewise, it is important that the two passages
per lane directly follow each other.
NOTICE!
Avoid that too much wax is accumulated in the wax cloth. It is rec-
ommended that every second waxing of the machine is carried
through without supply of fresh wax.

quently, the tape measure is gathered through the bracket and tight-
ened. Finally, the circumference and diameter can be read opposite to
the reading point of the bracket (pos. no. 3).
The roller diameter must meet the roller diameter (incl. needle felt)
recommended below.
NOTICE
The pointed screws must only be screwed in towards the grooves.
Otherwise, the thread in the belt pulley will be damaged, making a
regulation of the belt pulley impossible.

NOTICE!
If the rollers are fitted with springs at the laundry without supervision
from JENSEN DENMARK A/S, JENSEN DENMARK A/S takes no respon-
sibility for any damage in the chest caused by steel swarf and the
like.
Before start-up
Before start-up the ironer must be completely clean of all previous
needle felt and spring material.
Check that there is no foreign matter in the chests before the rollers
are lowered.
Use a 10 mm spring band.
Place the reel with the new spring material at the rear of the ironer.
Make sure that the reel turns around easily.
Preferably, four persons should join hands to apply the springs safely:
– Position one person at the reel to ensure that the spring material
comes off the reel in an untangled matter.
– Position a second person on top of the ironer to place the spring
band on the roller and to ensure that the spring band is kept tight.
– To be able to make a quick stop or to start and stop the rotation
of the rollers, position a third person at the emergency stop and
remote control.
– A fourth person hammers gently the spring bands tight against
each other while the springs are placed on the roller.
Fasten the beginning of the spring band, coming from the back end of
the machine, on the left hand side of the roller from the back.
Start-up
At start-up bend, fasten and fix the end of the spring band with two
self-cutting screws (pos. no. 1).
Rotate the roller three times so that the spring band lies tight and flat
on the roller.
After the first turn, fasten the spring band with a number of screws
as indicated in the below table.
Roller size (mm) Qty. screws
800 5
1000/1200 6
Then rotate the ironer at its lowest speed in order to allow the spring
band to be spiraled around the roller. Make sure that there is always
a slack between the reel and the person holding the tensioning de-
vice. The spring band must be wrapped as tightly as possible around
the roller. Hammering gently helps to tighten the spring bands to-
gether.
Joints
If a spring band runs out before the padding of the roller is finished,
the spring band can easily be joined to the spring band from the sec-
ond reel. Join the two spring bands by spot welding or pop riveting
(pos. no. 2). The springs themselves are connected by hooking them
together at the backside of the band.
Upon reaching the far end of the roller, the springs should be re-
moved from the last 50 cm (20") of the spring band so that the ten-
sioning spring can stretch. The tensioning spring also securing the
end of the spring band.
Fasten one end of the tensioning spring to the free end of the spring
band, stretch it to approximately double its length and fasten the
other end to the roller.
1 3
1 Starting point
After the spring band is mounted onto the rollers, the needle felt is
simply wound onto the roller without fastening it in any way.
NOTICE!
Under no circumstances should the needle felt be T-pinned to the
springs. If so, the spring band will be damaged.
If absolutely necessary, it is possible to fasten the edges of the nee-
dle felt to the ends of the rollers with screws and large washers. But
again, never fix the needle felt to the springs.
NOTICE
In order to stabilize the thermal expansion of the chest, it is impera-
tive that the chest has been fully heated before carrying out a change
of needle felt. Otherwise, the needle felt cannot be mounted cor-
rectly.
NOTICE!
For ironers with fixed chest, the chest must be heated longer than
180 minutes.
Both polyester and aramide felts are to be mounted according to this
instruction.
WARNING
Always make sure that no personnel can be caught and hurt by load
or heat under the roller or the chest at any time.
Secure the top cover in an open position, for example by tying the
handle. Alternatively, remove the top cover completely.
NOTICE
Never lower rollers into chests without having mounted the felt.
General preparation
– When exchanging the felt, it is recommended also to clean the
chest. The cleaning process, whether chemical or abrasive, will al-
ways contaminate the felt.
– Raise the rollers.
– When removing the old felt from one of the rollers, we recom-
mend you to tie two or three pieces of ironer tape around the
other roller. This is to secure the old felt on this roller while re-
versing the roller direction to remove the old felt from the other
roller.
– When removing felt from a roller, make sure not to damage the
springs by pulling too hard or by jerks. If reversing the roller,
make sure that the springs do not touch the outlet rim of the
chest, as they might bend.
– Make sure to identify which side of the felt to face the chest.
– Always turn the roller slowly, preferably by means of the remote
control.
– Prevent spring and chest damage when removing felt from more
than one roller. It is recommended to remove the V-belt of the
gear box on the other rollers.
3 1

Procedure
Pull the felt over the open top cover (pos. no. 1). The top cover rim
assists restraining the felt backwards and thereby keeping the felt
stretched to prevent folds and creases.

5 Smoothen felt
Turn the roller and continue smoothing the first round of felt until the
front edge is well clear of the chest.
Lower the roller into the chest and continue smoothing the felt until
all felt has been mounted all around.
If creases occur:
a) Lift the felt off, – it may be necessary to reverse the roller turning
direction
b) Straighten the creases
c) Moisten the creased section with soft water
d) Remount the felt
e) Turn the roller in the chest until the felt has settled.
After mounting the felt, press the side edges down between the roller
and the galvanized retainer screen.
WARNING
Your are strongly advised to face your palm of the hand towards the
galvanized plates. Otherwise, the back of the hand may be cut by the
plate rims.
b) Mark the position at the overlap for every 100 mm across the full
working width.
c) Cut the felt approximately 10 mm too long. Use a knife or a pair
of scissors.
NOTICE!
If the leading edges are not straight, it is important to follow these
leading edges instead of cutting the felt at a straight line.
As the felt will stretch, this procedure may probably be repeated sev-
eral times during the first days of production.
Procedure
Pull the felt over the open top cover (pos. no. 1). The top cover rim
assists restraining the felt backwards and thereby keeping the felt
stretched to prevent folds and creases.
3 4

2
Place the felt gently on top of the springs and stamp it to get a firm
grip in the hooks. Lift 2 - 5 springs every 200 mm by means of a
screwdriver above the leading edge of the felt (pos. no. 2).
This prevents the leading edge from falling down into the chest when
the roller is rotating.
Turn the roller by means of the remote control. Smooth out all
creases in the felt by repeated sweeping movements with your hands,
from the middle backwards towards the sides (pos. no. 5). Carry out
this with one operator being positioned at each side of the ironer.
Straighten creases at the middle of the roller as well.
5 Smoothen felt
Turn the roller and continue smoothing the first round of felt until the
front edge is well clear of the chest.
Lower the roller into the chest, and flip the felt over the machine to-
wards the inlet side.
Mount the second piece of felt like the first one at the position of the
second set of marks, and start winding this onto the roller while
smoothing.
Keep turning the roller until both pieces are mounted.
Otherwise, the back of the hand may be cut by the
plate rims.
To move the roller towards the outlet of the chest, increase the
length of the roller arms.
To move the roller towards the inlet of the chest, reduce the length of
the roller arms.
NOTICE!
Check the roller position after putting on the first needle felt.
Carry out the adjustment as follows:
a) Raise the roller with no load on the arms.
b) While the roller is raised, first loosen the nuts at the springs.
c) Then loosen the nuts at the eye piece.
Mount the needle felt while the roller arms are free. This to ensure
that the new needle felt on the roller finds its permanent form, and
that the load of the felt is as small and regular as possible.
Adjust the roller:
a) The roller must rotate in the chest at approximately 10-15 r/m,
and all 8 nuts must be loose.
b) Tighten the nuts with your fingers towards the eye piece.
c) Tighten the nuts at the springs in reverse direction so that the
eye piece is fixed.
1 2 3

b) Lower the air pressure by the main reduction valve, as the reduc-
tion valve is adjusted to 0 bar (0 psi).
c) Move the lifting cylinder forks (from pos. no. 3 to pos. no. 4).
d) Raise the air pressure again by opening the main reduction valve
until the rollers start raising. Then turn the regulator 1/2 turn
back, so that the rollers are balanced by the air pressure.
e) Unscrew the 2 red safety bolts again.
Then:
i) Loosen the four bolts (width across flats 24) on the base plate of
the crossbar (pos. no. 3) and press the air cylinders down.
j) Turn the base plate 180°. Fasten it again in the threaded bush-
ings of the roller bracket, using the four holes now being at the
top of the base plate.
k) Raise the air pressure again by opening the main reduction valve
until the rollers start raising. Then turn the regulator 1/2 turn
back, so that the rollers are balanced by the air pressure.
l) Turn the red safety bolts (pos. no. 7) out again, so that they can
slide past the side frame.
m) Raise the air pressure again with the main reduction valve in or-
der to lift the rollers to service position.
n) Turn the red safety bolts (pos. no. 7) in, so that they engage with
the slots in the side frames.
o) Secure the safety bolts with the lock nuts.
1 Locking screws
Adjust the damper by loosening the locking screws and turn the
damper shaft by means of the handle.
When the damper is turned 90°, it is completely shut.
Start the adjustment:
a) The ironer must be operational.
b) Close the throttle valve until the needle felt shows signs of damp
spots.
NOTICE!
The reaction time of the system is approximately 30 minutes.
c) Open the throttle valve again so that the needle felt can just be
kept dry.
Optimizing the ventilation in this way, the procedure must be re-
peated if operational conditions are changed.
Empty the drip tray. The drip tray is intended for collecting conden-
sate return, and it is placed in the pipe side of the machine.
Scrape away the deposits of condensate at regular intervals, for ex-
ample once a year.

Process water:
General: The rinsing water may only contain a minimum of
chemical residues and must have a neutral pH-
value. Otherwise deposits may form and result in
abnormal friction causing transfer problems for the
linen in the ironer.
The pH value should be 6<pH<8.
NOTICE
Residues of soap in the clothing (due to lack of rinsing) may cause
deposits on the ironing surface and color the linen yellowish. Further
residues of soap will dissolve the wax layer due to the imbalance in
pH value.
Starch will always cause deposits and thus friction. These deposits
will be neutral and relatively easy to remove with an abrasive sheet.
NOTICE
The manufacturer's warranty does not include damage on chests and
piping systems as a consequence of low-quality boiler water.
NOTICE
It is extremely important that only saturated dry steam is circulated
in the system. Entrainment and foaming in the boiler must not occur,
that means boiler water must not be in piping, chests or manifolds in
the ironer.
This is controlled by for example measuring the conductivity of con-
densate drawn from a steam trap. This conductivity must be less than
5 µS/cm.
In case of entrainment, a water separator for secretion of aggressive
boiler water must be mounted.
Moreover, the following limit values for boiler water must be ob-
served:
pH: 10.5 < pH < 11.8
Alkalinity: 1 < PA < 10 mval/l
in systems with ion exchanger
0,1 < PA < 1mval/l
in systems with reversed osmosis
Bicarbonate no: B<PA, max. 4.
SO3: 20 - 40 mg/l boiler water
Na2SO3: 30 - 60 mg/l boiler water
Oxygen: The use of mechanical (thermal) degassing is rec-
ommended at 95 °C.
Surplus of Between 30 and 50 mg. Na3PO4/l.
trisodium phos-
phate
NOTICE! The conductivity of the boiler water must always be in accor-
dance with the specifications set by the boiler manufacturer.
The following values can be used as a guideline in absence of other
specifications.
Conductivity: Max. 6000 µS / cm in systems with ion exchanger
Max. 1500 µS / cm in systems with reversed osmo-
sis
NOTICE
Control of the boiler water quality should be based on frequent (daily)
or continuous monitoring and recording of alkalinity, oxygen scav-
engers (sulfide), conductivity and trisodium phosphate content.
Out of warranty considerations it is important that the user is able to
document that monitoring and control of the boiler water quality has
taken place.
In case of any warranty claim, the complete documentation for the
entire period of service is to be provided to JENSEN DENMARK A/S.

NOTICE!
The bearing assembly is quite heavy. We recommend to mount a ring
bolt and to attach a strap, to prevent it from falling on the floor when
it leaves the axle.
g) Dismount the bearing housing on the roller plate with a disman-
tling screw.
h) Place the bearing assembly on a work bench and clean the inner
surfaces thoroughly from any deposits or corrosion.
