ABSTRACT: The brain and the gut communicate flexibly and complexly through
different methods, creating a bidirectional axis, the balance of which depends on the
composition of the microbial community that lives in the gut. This article aims to help
clarify, through a careful bibliographic review, the knowledge that exists about the
relationship established between the brain and the intestine and the role that the
intestinal microbiota has on these, highlighting the contribution that probiotics have.
exercise in this communication and consequently in health. Through an exploratory
study of a qualitative nature, it is intended to analyze the possibilities of the study of the
landscape for the teaching of Geography in basic education. To achieve the proposed

objectives, the study is classified as qualitative with the aim of extracting information
from authors who write on the subject, through books, scientific articles on Scielo and
Google. This work is justified in understanding the relationship between gut and brain,
it would be possible to understand the link between depression, obesity,
neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases. That's because the bacteria that inhabit
the gut have receptors that communicate directly with the brain. It is concluded that the
brain-gut axis serves as an instrument for understanding certain pathologies and their
functionality based on individual factors, and that it can help in the instruction and
treatment of psychiatric disorders, preferably depression.
